Hell no. As for Dirty Dancing, there better be something more than just sex involved. I better have a home-cooked breakfast in the morning as well to have to suffer through that swill.

It comes down to what kind of society we want. I'm no libertarian. Again, some things should be illegal because they're fundamentally wrong. I don't want to live in a society that says it's fine for a person to sell him or herself to another person for sex.

I'm not saying my argument is entirely logical here. Again, I would not want a brothel in my neighborhood.

Why is it "fundamentally wrong"?  It's been an almost universally accepted practice for all recorded history.  It is a practice that has really only become "looked down" apon with the advent and growth of Christianity, which is a rather short period of our long history.

So you think since you pay for a movie the girl should put out??

As with a meal, it depends on a movie. With a meal, if she's not willing to put out, it's Taco Bell. If she is, I could go with The Bonefish Restaurant.
You said "bonefish".   :-)

Anyone that's ever dated a woman is participating in prostitution. Sorry, it's the truth. Prostitution isn't going away.....EVER. It's the oldest profession on the books. Might as well regulate it and tax it. ...and yes, the damn government has NO business getting involved in the business between two individuals. Don't think so? Don't start bitching when the government tells you you can't sell your rifle to someone else without going through one of their "licensed" dealers.

I disagree. I'm the father of daughters. Not how I viewed courting their mother, my wife.

And this is what I have to look forward to, when my little darling is that old.   :bawl: :banghead:

*shrugs*  Do your job as a good parent, and just hope for the best.  In the end, we cannot control how they turn out.  Many of today's biggest Porn Stars are extremely intelligent, respectable women.  If you where to know them in real life, and not know what they did for a living, you'd probably never suspect it.

I have incredible respect for you guys who have daughters (moms too, but this is directed at the dads):  You know how you were, you know how boys are -- how you don't lock your girls in their room until they are 35 is beyond me.

I am not being facetious.  I really do have great respect for you.  In today's world, to instill values and morals is quite the task (and thanks, Moms, for leading by example).

I saw a Day by Day cartoon (by Chris Muir) a couple of months ago which addressed this.  One of the characters, a former CIA "operative," and his wife have twin girls.  He has this vision, and his wife asks him what's wrong, and he responds with words like these:  "I just realized that I have to hunt down and kill every bad boy on the planet."  I can identify with this sentiment.
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of Liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

"All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don't sit looking at it - walk!" -Ayn Rand

"Those that trust God with their safety must yet use proper means for their safety, otherwise they tempt Him, and do not trust Him.  God will provide, but so must we also." - Matthew Henry, Commentary on 2 Chronicles 32, from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible

"These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to liberty than street criminals or foreign spies."--Theodore Haas, Dachau Survivor

Gotta disagree with you there, Rebel, unless you are telling me the only reason you go out with a female is for the sex?

Wait, guys spending money on girls, I.e., movies, dinner, etc., to get a little action is a secret?  :-)

:bolt:

Here's a hint. Guys don't like Steel Magnolias or the English Patient....yet we still go.

And they still go after they are married...if they want to remain married. And, I don't mean that in any sort of  "my way or the highway" attitude, either. I mean it in the sense that the wife does things with or for her husband JUST because they are things that he likes, and vice versa.

It should be a law ;)

Then us women who make them wait a little longer (think: longer than the first date  :whatever: ) must know what we are worth  ;)

Exactly!

My opinion on THAT issue has actually changed somewhat in the last year,  but  I still think if a guy can wait a little while longer for me (patience is still a virtue, but with my previous boyfriends, it's been an issue  :whatever: )

I agree with you, Splash, and this is a libertarian POV.

I think prostitution is hedonistic, and hedonism leads to other acts of immorality.

So if you paid a $20 hooker, and she didn't deliver, you'd be ok with that, but if you paid a $500 hooker, you'd expect her to keep her end of the "deal".

Because to me, thats basically what you are saying.

I think she said sax-less.  A sextet is usually drums, 2 guitars, 2 trumpets and a sax.  But id she is saxless, we have to assume she plays the trombone.

Why is it "fundamentally wrong"?  It's been an almost universally accepted practice for all recorded history.  It is a practice that has really only become "looked down" apon with the advent and growth of Christianity, which is a rather short period of our long history.

Simple question. Would you want your mother, sister, or daughter doing the job? Why?

THAT's why it's fundamentally wrong.
Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

I'm a supporter of legalized Prostitution.  The way Nevada has it set up is smart.  It provides a safe, stable environment for the people who partake.  No one is pressed into it against their will.

If it where to be legalized, it should be done so in a manner that follows how Nevada has it set up.  Once doing that, it would DRASTICALLY cut down on the "bad" type of prostitution that occurs in this country.  Human trafficking would be curtailed significantly, transmission of STD's through prostitutes would almost cease.  Very few cons, lots of pro's.

Those who would trade their liberty for temporary security will get neither. --Benjamin Franklin.
