Bad WWE news

If there are any past or present WWE fans out there...

Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed at ringside tonight. They were doing CPR on him as they went to commercial.

Ring announcer Michael Cole said this wasn't part of the show (not scripted). The look of concern on his face was genuine.

There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I DVR'd it. But didn't watch it yet. I am praying for Jerry. I always liked him.

That bit with Andy Kaufman was one of his most popular stints.

When he comes out of this, he won't be wrestling anymore.

I am wondering how CM Punk feels. Him and Jerry are very good friends outside the ring...

Jerry Lawler collapses during 'Monday Night Raw,' taken to hospital
September 10, 2012, 9:50 p.m.

Jerry "The King" Lawler, a commentator on WWE's "Monday Night Raw" television show, collapsed during tonight's live telecast and has been rushed to a Montreal hospital. In the world of pro wrestling, which tries to blur the line between real life and entertainment, this is all too real.

Lawler had stopped breathing and was given CPR at the arena. He collapsed during a match between the team of Daniel Bryan and Kane vs. The Prime Time Players, during which most people in the stands could be seen watching the commentator area (which is off camera during matches) instead of the match.

Broadcast partner Michael Cole later gave an update, saying Lawler collapsed during the match and was immediately tended to by ringside doctors, who began performing CPR.

Lawler, 62, had competed in a match earlier in the evening, teaming with Randy Orton against CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler. He appeared in an on-camera segment just before collapsing and seemed fine.

An obviously emotional Cole gave updates on Lawler throughout the rest of the show. The final update was that Lawler was breathing on his own, was reacting to stimuli but was in isolated ER and awaiting further tests.

(Update at 9:49 p.m.: It is believed Lawler suffered a stroke.)

Prayers to The King and his family for a speedy recovery. I wonder if the match he participated in earlier in the show accelerated the heart attack/stroke. They stopped comentating on the matches after this happened which was very wierd but understandable. Thank god the WWE has doctors ringside or this could have been much worse.

It appears he has survived the widowmaker. (Even though I heard he was clinically dead for 20 minutes, or something like that) His wrestling cvareer should most certainly be done. That cage match two weeks ago probably aided what happened last night. I was there live for it, and King took a fair bit of abuse for the show. I don't think he's out of it yet, but he dodged the worst. Now he needs some major R&R. Get well soon, King.

I wonder if since JR was/is so close to Lawler if he'll do the honors of being on the announce team in his place until he is better?

I would love to see JR come back. But I doubt they will do that. They will probably have the guy who announces with Cole on SmackDown do it. Or they, they will have a special guest announcer every week.

Jeez. I hope there is no brain damage from the results tomorrow. At worst, minimal.

That is so sad ... I hope he gets through this.

I still haven't watched the episode. I'm not sure if I want to.

I don't think so. :lmao: Me praying with him was actually a spur of the moment thing.  I was just going to get an autograph, and I also told him what one of my favorite bible verses; he told me his...At which point he asked me to pray with him. It was pretty cool.

I made that mistake. :( I think it's where a few of my BSs came from.

I'd love to meet HBK. I've heard he was a good guy. The RAW I went to, after HHH made his retirement statement, he came up the ramp, and slapped hands. You can actually see my veiny ass arm, and big old hand trying to get a slap. I didn't, but whatever. I tried. I've heard they were both great guys, too.

The one I'd really like to meet is Undertaker. (Mark Calloway) Although, my #1 would be Stone Cold. If I met him, I'd probably faint. He's just kickass.
