10 years after the whole Martha Burk protest crap.  I wouldn't say they succumbed to political pressure.

Most private clubs are struggling to survive in this economy.  Augusta doesn't have that issue.  They added female members on their own timetable.

Just because it hasnt been front and center in the media doesnt mean there hasnt been continued pressure to accept female members. Which is why they chose a couple of conservative females to be the first 2.

They shouldn't have caved. Seems the creeping of societal "norms" always comes at the expense of Conservative values. It's the incremental movement we're experiencing to the left. :bs:

If I was alowed to play on the LPGA Tour 40 years ago, I would be sitting on a pile of dough.

Next, they will want to play a tour event there. Let them and put the tees back on the blues and there will be a lot of 80 and 90 scores.

They had one right across the river at Mount Vintage Plantation in SC. Didn't last long.

Some of the top women's golfer at the time defended the clubs position on men only membership.
