I'm done, Skinner. I am now finished, and I hate that fact, but DU needs to recognize sports.
I have donated money since 2002. But it's obvious that some postings are not allowed. Notably, about sports. Whether it's Tiger, or basketball, or the Wings, or Jordan, or anything else that has enriched or challenged our lives in sports, from Jackie Robinson to Al Kaline to Frank Robinson to Barry Sanders, they are IMMEDIATELY put into Sports from General Discussion. No matter how monumental the moments are. I know this isn't a sports site, but there are memories that matter here, and make a difference. Like Bob Gibson's 1.12 ERA in 1968, or John Carlos in Mexico City in 1968, or Secretariat in 1973, or Muhammad Ali standing against the Vietnam War.
All of them are dismissed here. I am sick and tired of it, and I know I will be ripped to shreds for this post, but dammit, didn't Jackie Robinson matter, too?
Does EVERY sports post have to be dismissed here at DU?

6. Don't be done. Do a poll, send it to Skinner. Or maybe the admin should do a poll. I like some sports. No one has to answer if they aren't interested, and sports are or should be a topic of GD. imo!

You think Jackie Robinson or Muhammad Ali were only about sports?
Apparently, DU does.

22. But it's up to the OP to make relevance clear, isn't it?
Louisa May Alcott wasn't all about little women or childrens' books or cricket or transcendentalists or soft porn or emancipation. It's up to the OP to clarify.

You could be one of the 11 GLBT/ GLBT allies that were banned a week ago yesterday with no explanation, all mention of which has been disappeared from the site. That's why I'm not donating.

21. Who knows? We're not allowed to talk about it
But I don't care. Some were banned for merely mentioning that banning of the others. Those of us who were aware of it at the time saw it all, prior to it all being deleted.

17. Are you serious?
You are upset that all of your SPORTS posts keep getting moved to the SPORTS forum?
I donate to DU as well. And I my interest in sports goes as far as snowboarding and volleyball. Should those topics be GD topics as well, or should I seek out snowboard and volleyball forums...Oh, wait...I DO! When I want discussions about snowboarding or volleyball, I post to forums dedicated to snowboarding and volleyball.
The name of this site is "DEMOCRATIC Underground," Not "Whatever the **** is your personal interest underground."
Consider me one of the people ripping you to shreds. Your SPORTS posts belong in the SPORTS forums. STFU.
But oddly, while Pedro Picasso will post snowboard and volleyball bonfires in those particular forums, Pedro Picasso posts much else in General Discussion that, really, belongs in the 9-11 forum.

33. No, seriously...those are SPORTS discussions for the most part.
I'm a long-time poster. I'm sure that if your posts were actually "GENERAL" that they'd have remained in GD. But you seem pretty hell-bent in your denial. I think you're so infatuated with your sports idols that you forget that most of DU isn't. If you have a post about how Ali or Billie Jean affect our current politics, I'd bet you money that they'd stand in GD.
"GENERAL" Discussion isn't quite that general. You're still on DU, which is a political web site.

37. And Muhammad Ali wasn't political? Or John Carlos? Or Jackie Robinson?
Whew.
I don't expect GD to become a sports forum. But let's not dismiss it out of hand.
DU automatically moves everything to Sports, and some have broader ramifications. That's all I am saying here.

42. If your posts have clear POLITICAL points, there should not be an issue.
I admit that I don't know what the f you're talking about, as you don't provide any actual specifics. You just rant on about "sports" and Ali and Robinson, without giving any specifics as to why these are supposedly "political" issues which should remain on the main forums of a political website.
But I'm willing to listen if you're willing to do something beside post vague paranoid rants.

I believe the OP is alluding to his Preakness thread that moved to the sports section.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...
In my opinion, I don't quite see the relevance of putting it in GD. I'm a massive hockey fan, but I post on a NHL forum. Unless something massively news worthy happens, there really isn't any point in bringing the conversation to DU. Now, I'm off to hide before people starting yelling at me for butting in...

80. Intense activity. Not SPORTS.
Come on. Driving really, really fast is intense. But I've nlydone it on a pedestrian level. I didn't have to work out or go to the gym or spend a day in the hot sun running scrimmages.
A certain personality is required. A certain bravado. But to call a guy who drives a fast car an "athlete" is just wrong.
