Note: The prediction of famine in South America is partly true, but only in Venezuela and only because of socialism, not for environmental reasons.

In January 1970, Life reported, “Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”

Re #9, there are some cities in China where residents have to wear surgical type masks on some days, but ... yeah, I don't think that's anywhere near the scale "Life" mag meant. And I still have to wear sunscreen when I do 10K or longer distances in many spring-fall running events.

I disagree with Carlin on lots of things, but he hits so many other nails right on the head, and makes you laugh your butt off while telling you. 

Edit.  Had to go watch Carlin, in a humorous bit of irony, or effectiveness, there was a Church of Jesus Christ ad stuck in it.  :D

Agreed, I certainly didn't and still don't agree with a number of his opinions. But he was a comedian, and some was perhaps for shock value and didn't reflect his actual views.  No matter what, he always makes me laugh.

Watched that particular special with my college fraternity brothers and laughed our asses off. I'd been familiar with his comedy since the early 70's, listening to my parents' 8-tracks of his comedy albums.

True dat, about the early 70s. I had a couple of his albums - "Occupation Foole" and "Class Clown".

In in a bit of a biography I read about him some time ago, he partnered with Jack Burns and the two of them played the comedy circuit for a couple of years - from ~1960 till 1962. So I'll correct myself on that. He definitely did comedy throughout the 60s and tried acting as well, which scared the hell out of him.
