CHICAGO — An attorney for the Illinois governor has asked the legislative committee considering whether to impeach the governor to subpoena President-elect Barack Obama's incoming chief of staff and a senior adviser.
Ed Genson told the Chicago Sun-Times for a report published on Thursday that testimony from Rahm Emanuel, Valerie Jarrett — and Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. — would help Gov. Rod Blagojevich's claim that he did nothing wrong in trying to fill Obama's vacant Senate seat.

The only reason Blago wants them to testify, is because they'll lie to avoid self incrimination in front of the impeachment hearing panel. If there's one thing that Dems are good at, it is lying and backing each other up when they lie.

All the focus in the press is on Illinois not calling on Fits's witnesses so they don't screw up his case. The fun will begin when they start going after Gov. Bighairovitch in earnest and remember that trials are a two-way street, where the DEFENSE can subpoena anyone they feel like to embarass and screw up the pretty Government case, as long as they can convince the judge or presiding official (for impeachment) that the testimony is relevant.

Any impeachment hearing will be after The One has taken office. That will allow him to claim executive privilege for himself and his minions. (I think)

Probably not, none of this stuff involves decision-making or policy issue of the President's office, it is all pre-coronation and hence not official government action.
