WikiLeaks: Cuba banned Sicko for depicting 'mythical' healthcare system

Cuba banned Michael Moore's 2007 documentary, Sicko, because it painted such a "mythically" favourable picture of Cuba's healthcare system that the authorities feared it could lead to a "popular backlash", according to US diplomats in Havana.

The revelation, contained in a confidential US embassy cable released by WikiLeaks , is surprising, given that the film attempted to discredit the US healthcare system by highlighting what it claimed was the excellence of the Cuban system.

But the memo reveals that when the film was shown to a group of Cuban doctors, some became so "disturbed at the blatant misrepresentation of healthcare in Cuba that they left the room".

You mean Obama's not the only one to tell a lie?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

That's rich.  Too bad liberals have all the attention span of a gnat... Michael Moore is old news.

WikiLeaks cables: Michael Moore film Sicko was 'not banned' in Cuba

Now he is saying that diplomats made up the story of Sicko being banned in order to discredit him.

 :mental:

So, if I understand correctly, diplomats made up a story that nobody would ever see if it weren't for the guy Moore bailed out of jail to discredit him.  How does that work?

He claims that  his movie was aired on national TV in Cuba.

He claims that  his movie was aired on national TV in Cuba.
He also claims it was one of the few American movies released in Cuba and that he supplied 35mm prints.

Hard to know what is true but it stretches credulity to believe that US diplomats would try to discredit his movie in secret cables that nobody was ever supposed to see.
