Democrats are idealists.
They believe they can change the country politically to the way they envision it philosophically. The world would never change if we did not have idealistic Democrats. We would backslide into our most basic instincts of violence, racism, hatred, and war.
The world would not last very long in the clutches of Republican and extremist ideology. They would not talk about such things as rights, gender, equality, climate, voter suppression, etc. That responsibility is left to the Democrats.
Whether or not it is realistic is open to debate. Everyone does not think the same way. We are surprised that so many people think in such backward and destructive ways. But, we shouldn't be. That is the way the world has always been.
Progressives and idealists will continue to push forward. Republicans and extremists will continue to fight for the status quo. That's the way I see it.

2. History proves time and again, progress maybe slow...the RWNJ notoriously try and block it
but we do move forward. Not in a straight line, but forward

4. Well, a sizable number of Democrats are idealists, anyhow.
However, those are a minority of Democrats and an even smaller minority of voters in general. A majority of democrats are practical pragmatists who want many things to move in progressive directions. For Democrats to win elections, both types of Democrats must vote together to elect them. It's important to push progressive ideals, but it's equally important to make sure to bring along the pragmatists on election day. If there is not unity among Democrats, Republicans win elections.
That is the fundamental reality of US politics. Ignoring that is a sure way to lose.

Just because something is "progressive" doesn't mean it's automatically desirable. Progress for the sake of progress can, more often than not, be extremely destructive. Dems/libs/progs aren't intelligent enough to recognize this.
Right now, progressivism would say to control the media and only allow certain "approved truths" to be stated, de-platform those on the internet who don't speak the preapproved "truth", imprison or otherwise ostracize those who disagree with the correct viewpoints, direct democracy (ending the EC, trying to pack the USSC, adding new States, end the filibuster) is preferable to a representative gov't, mislabel your political opposition in order to try and gain the advantage by any means necessary, the destruction of traditional moral laws, the "in your face" attitude, etc... Basically anything that pushes the leftist agenda over common sense, conservative ideology is OK. What they call progressive, normal people call steps towards totalitarian rule.

Democrats are idealists.
They believe they can change the country politically to the way they envision it philosophically.
In a strange way that's true - they do think that they can change the country to the way they imagine it to be...unfortunately, the way they imagine it to be isn't at all in line with human nature or basic reality and so they are mistaken in their belief. If given sufficient free-reign then they end up causing all manner of disruption in trying to refashion humanity.
Conservatives, by contrast, start with the reality of what humans are like.

They are fascists.
By definition the only way to ensure everything is done the way you want to is to order it so.
They don't want justice. They want order and equality of outcome. 90% are below the middle of the IQ curve - the 90% want "equality" so they can get more with no extra effort. The 10% want to rule the other 90%.
