Senator Edward Kennedy dies at age 77
« on: August 26, 2009, 12:41:19 AM »
HYANNIS PORT, Massachusetts (Reuters) – U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died at age 77, his family said.

"Edward M. Kennedy, the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply, died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port (Massachusetts)," the Kennedy family said in a statement early on Wednesday.

Kennedy had brain cancer, which was diagnosed in May 2008.

He was one of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S. history, a liberal standard-bearer who recovered politically from a string of personal scandals to become known as a consummate congressional dealmaker.

Kennedy's death marked the twilight of a political dynasty and dealt a blow to Democrats as they seek to answer President Barack Obama's call for an overhaul of the healthcare system.

So what happens now? Does a special election automatically get called, or does the state legislature swoop in and change the rule back?

Oh, yeah, condolences to his family. I'm sure they, and a lot of libs, will miss him.

This is why conservatives have been known to call it the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Act. They were only slightly kidding.

I guess it would be too much to ask for some other liberal douchebags in the senate to follow Teddy the Lush's example and kick the bucket?

It will take some of the fun out of watching the royal high jinks of our political Masters.

He was so outrageous that people enjoyed having him around just to see what he would do next.   One Nephew a Murdered in prison, another charged with rape. The heir to the Theron and his cover girl wife killed as they flew to the wedding of a Niece who was born after his brother was assassinated.

I feel like I grew up with that family, we knew everyones name laughed at some cried for others.  We watched their kids grow up to be Hell raisers, drunks, murder es, thieves and some did good work for the comunity and were respectfull citizens.

So now we lay another Kennedy to rest, Saint or Sinner we will never really know.

So much to regret I will never get to watch Ted jog the beach naked, or find him passed out on his front lawn.

He was defintely a sinner. He LOVED sinning. I am sure that when they TRIED to give him last rites, he said "I'm giving God one last chance to repent". Thats just how big an ego he had. It was the size of the blackhole at the center of a galaxy.

Just remember when you watch TV or read the news... every time a whale is beached... someone is thinking of Ted Kennedy

For me August 26,2009 is the day the gates closed on Camelot.  40 some odd years of wondering about how that one family got away with all the the wheeling and dealing they done did.

AND ---no shame whats so ever. AMAZING

Put it this way, that tiny little pay check I bring home is MINE. I can buy without guilt what I want or think I need.

Kennedy family bring home a paycheck and total outsiders demand to know what they spent their money on.

I would not like to awaken one morning to complete strangers demanding I disclose what % of my check went for Charity,  expose IRS records for last 7 years.

I do not want to pick up the morning paper that has an article about some idiot that has been arrested for running naked in the streets and at the botton the last sentence is   The accused is a member of the Vesta family.

If these acts can be done to the rich and famous, they are legal to do to anyone else when a neighbor has a grudge against you.

Camelot began in my grandparents generation, went on to my parents, then to mine, my kids and their kids.  5 freeking generations that have been impacted in one way or the other with life as we know it today

This unusual family has come to an end, there is no one left in that family to carry on.

Caroline did at Teds urging attempt to step into politics but she had gone from a swan to an ugly duckling

Close the curtains, raise the lights, escort everyone out of the theater of life.  This was the longest running play on Brodway and is now shut down.
