One thing that has been so difficult to understand?

It is how the American people and our elected Representatives view the office of the President of the United States.

Why are they willing to endow so much power to one man?

We became a country by fighting a war to rid ourselves of such thoughts and practices. We didn't like the idea of British troops coming into our houses any time they wished. With their Declaration of Independence, they believed that the power was with the People, not a King.

Now, we hear both political Parties say that the "President" should be able to choose whomever he wants to help him run his Administration. I don't think that is what the Founders meant by "advise and consent". I cannot imagine they wanted incompetent or criminal people in positions of power within our government.

I cannot imagine giving one person, especially someone like Trump, the power to destroy our democracy, as if that was written in our Constitution?

The Founders debated and argued about whether the President should be "Commander in Chief" and concluded that during times of war, we needed just one leader, and they vested that title to the President.

Otherwise, there were no unlimited powers given outside the balance of power with the three branches of our government.

Available evidence says they haven't figured out that much yet.  Still thinking Harris was a good candidate, Biden was a good president, not recognizing their ideology didn't go over with most Americans, ect, ect.

"Be not intimidated... nor suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberties by any pretense of politeness, delicacy, or decency. These, as they are often used, are but three different names for hypocrisy, chicanery and cowardice." - John Adams

Hillary Clinton will never be the President of the United States.

It's called Article II of the US Constitution. Maybe kt should read it.

What wryly amusing about DU-Grade Progs' views of the powers of the President is that they think Dem POTUSes are all-powerful and should never be told, "No," while R POTUSes, in their view, do not even have authority over Executive department agencies ... except when they demand an R POTUS wave a wand to keep a pandemic disease out of the US while Progs undermine that R President's efforts.

Re that latter point, how many DU threads called Trump's January 2020 China travel shutdown racist and/or xenophobic? Did DU's arch thread proliferators reach double-digit numbers of such threads?
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.
