In the real world, Trump did not fire the FAA Administrator, at all. In the real world, in December 2024, FAA Administrator Whitaker announced his intent to resign, and he resigned on January 20, 2025.
In the real world, Trump did not freeze the hiring of ATCs (not that it matters to the recent crash, since training takes months, not a couple of days). From
https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/air-traffic-controllers-initially-offered-buyouts-told-leaving-118330627 :
... An official for the Office for Personnel Management, the U.S. government's human resources arm, said Friday that controllers weren't eligible for the resignation plan or subject to the hiring freeze across much of the rest of federal government.
In the real world, the people Trump fired were the
Aviation Security Advisory Committee, not a safety committee. The
Aviation Security Advisory Committee is part of DHS, not the FAA. I wonder how many DUmmies lapped up this
Too Good to Factcheck lie.
In the real world, the retirement & buyout letter sent to all Federal employees was a voluntary offer, not some sort of
"ransom note". Also in the real world, the ATC union advised members not to accept the offer, as it was not clear it applied to them, which (see the quote from the ABC News article above) OPM confirmed it did not. ATCs were not included in Trump's letter.
In sum,
every point in that Hate-Trump meme is false and easily factchecked. But because it is
Too Good to Factcheck I doubt that any DU-Denizen bothered to Google/Bing/DDG even one. If a
Bore of Moderate Brain like me can do it, surely one of
the smartest people in the world could do it.
ETA There are just 13 Replies at this point. One reply did mention that Whitaker resigned, but parroted the Prog-narrative that it was under pressure from Bogey-Musk.
In the real world, officials resigning at the beginning of a new administration is pretty routine, even if, nominally, they have a multi-year term.
