Whatever Jeffries' views on this Lib/Prog dogma, he probably knows that this "separation" is not mentioned in the USC or its Amendments.
The phrase comes from a letter by President Thomas Jefferson to a Baptist church, assuring them that the US government would not interfere with their doings. IOW, TJ understood that the USC and Amendments restricted government with regard to religion, not religious people. TJ understood that,
"Congress shall make no law ...," restricts Congress' law-making authority, not the free, religious speech of religious people.
Further, what church do DU-folk fantasize that Jeffries' comment "established" as a state church? What Christian denomination? What Jewish group? What sect of Islam? What sect of Hinduism? Jeffries did not even specify a religious tradition, let alone a specific denomination or sect.
