Don't be surprised if they simply replace that fender. My understanding is the body shop guys don't do a whole lot of pounding out, filling, shaping, sanding, priming and painting these days. It's a lot cheaper time-wise just to replace the component, prime and paint.Sorry to hear of the accident......
If they still made real bumpers there wouldn't have been hardly any damage.I miss real bumpers.
That's what I meant to say was bumpers not fender. Those damn low impact bumpers were supposedly designed to break away reducing vehicle damage and human fatalities. what a joke.
Well, as I understand it, the idea for the breakaway stuff is to diffuse the energy that would otherwise wind up in the human body. The Indy cars are designed that way too and when they crash, they litter the raceway for DAYS. But the stats show fewer injuries and deaths from the energy having been diffused.
having an accident these days is an expensive deal.(keeping fingers crossed and touching wood - my last at-fault accident was in 1992. My car wasn't touched, but my changing lanes while the guy was in my blind spot forced him off the road. He took out a roadway sign and his car was rather banged up.)
If you have an accident that activates the air bags, kiss your vehicle goodbye. It's way too expensive to replace it.Anyway, I got my truck back on Wednesday. It looks like nothing ever happened. I am pleased with the work they did.
About a decade ago if an airbag deployed it cost about $1500 to get it replaced. May be a little cheaper now.
I said air BAGS. Multiply your cost by at least 2.
Though I am sory to hear about the truck and the issues you will be dealing with, I am really glad that you are okay!!! You are okay right??
Tis true, In a luxury model car multiple airbag deployments can run 3 - 4K TO Repair.Just out of curiosity what was the total repair bill on your truck ?
$1756.00.
