Why I find these hate the troops post pathetic
Beyond belief

For people who prattle at times about class solidarity, there is nothing funnier than hating people who in many instances serve, not to serve mom, apple pie and the American way...that is a lie. They serve in order to feed their families and escape a life of poverty, or at least try to.

These kids, and even lifers, are working class people trying to make it. When in the field they care for those besides them, and to go home. And the best part is you sent them there, through the political class you elected.

I think nutcase nadin's addled submariner has been editing some of her posts lately.

"Tendentious"? "Prattle"? The bald dwarf has never uttered, read, or understood those words. If she tried to use them, the spelling would stump anyone trying to decipher her word salad.

For the first time ever I agree with the meat of your post.
I differ on the OWS stuff, but the military stuff you wrote is right on

RWNJ is DUmpspeak for "right wing nut job", i.e., us.

Pie in the sky, still lives in books, hipsters.

I love 'em, been here forever, but...

I walked the halls of academia, but walked the streets as well. Both are needed to get a measured view of the world.

Some of our hipsters have not realized this.

For me it was not granted, I had to earn it...I take it seriously.

Nadin was there when TominTib was around. I am surprised Nadin did not attract much attention back than. I know she made top 20 DUmmy Of The Year in the past.

I spent 22 years in the USMC and I cannot think of a single person that joined the Marines or the Navy to escape poverty, maybe I was just put in special privileged units so that I wouldn't have to see that sort of thing.

To be fair, I did have one guy in my boot camp company who cut an 11 (yes, 11!) on the AFQT and was your stereotypical West Virginia inbred hillbilly.  Guy literally could not figure out right from left for marching for at least six weeks, until they rolled his ass back.

I don't even know if he ever graduated boot.  But joining the Navy for free shoes?  Yeah, never heard of that either.

Remember the primitives and their habit of "projection," attributing their own feelings and motives to others.

Possessing only base, carnal, materialistic motives, things such as "doing good," "serving one's country," "growing up," a desire to see the greater world outside, "becoming a better person," are alien to them; they have no idea.

They can't possibly imagine anyone would serve in the military for any reason other than why they'd serve too, for a free meal ticket.

Married to a service member for years and still knows nothing about it. She must be in a special kind of coma to be that stupid.

That's one of the mysteries for the Ages.

I used to have a without-exception high estimation and respect for people who operated submarines.

Now I'm not sure it should be unanimous.

Damn, I wonder what motivated the guy to marry her.  It had to be for money.

I don't understand why "walking the halls of academia" is any special accomplishment.

<<trod down the halls of academia at three first-class, top-notch reputable academic institutions, two of them private colleges.

It's kind of like "walking the dog" or "carrying the groceries to the car."

I knew a couple guys who served that came from what one normally considered poverty.
a couple that came from wealth. one served to prove to himself he could do it and one needed an honorable discharge after 4 yrs to claim an inheritance.

I also knew a couple that retired  from the military after joining given the choice between jail time or military service. One did 24 yrs the other 30. Interesting thing about these two guys was the guy who did 24 hit basically every combat deployment from Nam to DS1 while the fellow who did 30 covering the same period never saw combat. Not because he didn't want to but in the infinite wisdom of the US Army deciding his services needed elsewhere.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

The military is screwy that way, I could write quite a tale about the odd twists my own career took myself.  I eventually got everything out of it I was looking for, but it was a damn' bumpy and circuitous path.
