Facebook Photo Of Woman At Tomb Of The Unknowns Sparks Outrage
I wonder what her username here is?

BOSTON (CBS) – Two women have been placed on unpaid leave from their jobs after their photo at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia angered thousands of people on Facebook.

Lindsey Stone was visiting the Tomb of the Unknowns last month on a business trip when she posed for a picture next to a sign that reads “silence and respect.”

In the photo, Stone is pretending to yell and she’s showing her middle finger.

The photo, taken by a co-worker, went viral and sparked thousands of angry comments.

Some of those comments were posted on the Facebook page of their employer, Living Independently Forever, Inc.,(LIFE) a non-profit organization in Hyannis that helps adults with disabilities on Cape Cod.

Moral of the story... don't do stupid shit and upload it to FaceBook unless you want to suffer the consequences.

Better yet... stay off FaceBook altogether.

I will go collect more later - I wanted to catch it before it goes down the memory hole...

Big campfire. A 3rd are upset that DU is being linked to the photo.
The others are split between defending here (Artic Dave is the a$$hole there), and saying it was wrong.

Now that Arctic Dave's wife, the Mammarian Candidate, is no longer running for the Alaska state legislature, he is free to release his inner asshole.

Nobody egged her house or beat her up.

She just lost the ability to convince her employer that she was worth keeping around (and likely convinced many of her "friends" that she wasn't worth having as a friend).

Amazing how few people understand that foundation. "Free speech" does not mean "no consequences for any kind for your personal expression"

Other residents of our free country are free to express their dissatisfaction with her behavior... including her employer.

Of course it does.

This is a nonprofit organization that deals with adults with various mental disabilities. They specifically advertise that their staff provides a "nurturing and caring environment". Who they choose to employ certainly impacts the public's view of their ability to provide this nurturing/caring environment.

"Obnoxious and very stupid" doesn't fit that need. They absolutely could lose business because of her actions.

They're under no obligation to continue her employment.

"It is a scary place that this society is racing towards" the belief that you can do whatever you want and the rest of society has to enable that behavior.

I mean, how lazy are journalists today that instead of getting out there and actually reporting about worthy subjects, modern journalism now is like 12-year-old's tattling on teacher's pet to mommy? Seriously.

This is just not going to end peacefully. Keep pushing.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Will she be arrested by Obama to stave off riots by violent protesters?

No?

Even though so many at DU demanded that the "The Innocence of Muslims" filmmaker be arrested?

Still  no?

Then that is why America's fallen  deserve respect: because the American people and their warriors are better than  - -  superior to - - the savages you traitors would have us appease at the expense of the very law that protects this sow of yours.

You don't deserve it but they still fought to keep it for you.

Surely we could teach the people of today something from the Bible.

I totally disagree, our Country is sinking into 3rd world Nation status, you have stupid people who vote for high unemployment and high debt because they want their freebies, add to that a growing disrespect and ignorance among the electorate, you increasingly have people being robbed for fun, seniors being robbed and beaten up, groups of kids going into stores by the hundreds to rob and harass for fun, this picture isn't just a picture of disrespect to those who served and lost their lives for this Nation, her poor judgement and disrespect is indicative of a once great Nation sliding downward.

This is the type of societal rot that having "far more important issues to debate" has wrought.  When behavior and standards are sacrificed to the left (which it has been for, lo, many years), this is the kind of crap that will float to the top.  The "far more important issues" will mean jack shit if we do not start to demand standards of behavior; the individuals you count on to be reasonable and thoughtful will not have the skills to pull it off.

That's why this is such a big deal.
