I have several records that are not ever going to be available on CD, but now we can record the records to CD and have them forever!!!

I need to do that to some of my cassettes as well

it is a fun little machine and really awesome technology

Yeah, they've been out for about 4 years and run less than 80 bucks.

Has this bitch never heard of iTunes?  And frankly, if some LP wasn't later on CD, there's usually a pretty good reason for it; i.e., it SUCKS!

Hubby could have saved a ton of money by just buying her a cable adapter to use her existing record player for input to her computer. Better still, he should have just told her to stick a microphone up to the record player speaker and record from there.

Indeed - about $15 bucks for a USB adapter that handles just audio or about $30 for one that handles video as well.

For about $80 to $100 one can get a device that will convert nearly any signal to USB - audio, video, S-video, firewire.. etc..

A record player with built in USB converter costs about $150 on average.

Last week she posted about a food bank she passes daily on her way to school.  She felt SO bad for those people.  She was going to volunteer or something.

Then she brags about going to Vegas.

I checked NewEgg.com... the only USB-enabled turntables over there were in the $100-150 range.  Not cheap, but not nearly as expensive as some of the newer turntables I've seen.

Its an odd waste of money, because of how specialized that device is, whereas pairing a quality player with an RCA to USB converter will do the same thing, while leaving you with a converter that can be used to interface cassettes, 8 tracks, etc etc etc.
