I saw something that scared me yesterday.

Last edited Thu Nov 21, 2013, 04:31 PM - Edit history (2)
I saw something while walking down Fort Lowell yesterday. I was walking by a Stone Mason Shop and they had some grave markers out there. One had everything filled out and was done on grey marble. The next was on black marble and has some of the same stuff on it like a Unicorn and the same epitaph, very spooky epitaph.

It was not all filled out yet, it had no name, no date of death, it did have a birth year on it, my birth year. The epitaph stated "Shattered Dreams".

This shook me up. The design is one I would pick for myself. But that epitaph...

If that's all it takes to shake you up, you better get off the streets.

2. Well with all that has happen to me..

The EF-5, all the way to the recent hit and run, this spooked me. It is like Death is teasing me. He is getting his jollies by scaring me white!

I am guessing the EF-5 must have been the tornado! But This is the 1st I have heard of a hit and run, how did I miss that?
Damn death is scaring her white. From the pics I have seen of her, I would say she was already white. And she says that like it is a bad thing.

Translation: she was sleeping out back, they scared her off when they showed up in the morning, and she intends to go back and steal something later.

3. You had a vanitas experience.

Some works of art are designed to remind us of our, and everything's, mortality. The "Shattered Dreams" part is a particularly artistic little comment. Either someone ordered it and it's not done or someone was being creative in their advertising copy, knowing that it would cause an aesthetic (in this case uneasy) response. Who doesn't fear, and in some ways have, shattered dreams?

I like those moments, and stepping back and marveling at how things affect us, make us feel a little superstitious or extraordinary or shocked. But the stepping back is an important part of that.

Man.....that's deep   :stoner:

Enough with the tornado, LFR. There were people who lost son's and daughter's who graduated earlier that day--crushed, drowned, twisted in heaps of metal...I don't see any of them on your board or anywhere else using the tornado as some excuse as to why their life is in shit or why they are so frazzled and they actually LOST PEOPLE.  This just pisses me off for those people who actually lost loved ones in that 'EF-5'...****! ****ing liberals...riding the black horse of doom until the damn thing collapses. :banghead:

Amber...drama queen much?

I remember a little over a year ago Scoobs and I did a weekend trip to Vermont and stayed in a B&B.

They were more worked up over the fact they were miles away from the WTC when the planes hit than the floods that came to their door.  The former, while horrifying, was nothing compared to what COULD have happened to them had the river risen just another foot or two.

Context, context, context.

Oh, and one more thing toots--IT AIN'T ALL ABOUT YOU.

His name is whitecloud?  Like hell.  I'll bet dollars to donuts that she got the name from the toilet tissue.

Now that I think about it--she is living in Tucson, she's probably eating a lot of mexican food, she looks like a girl with a healthy appetite.

Amber, hon--you might call me a stalker, but I'm not.

However, I'm gonna give you a nickel's worth of free advice.

Get the **** off the streets.  Go home.  Make amends with your family.  Cause in the end, they're the only ones who are going to care about you or save you.

Because you're certainly not going to end up very well in Tucson.

Don't listen to him, he's a repuke.

Just stay in Tucson and keep posting about Chief Charmin, or whatever his name is.

How about checking out Dreamboat Dave for us, okay? We're concerned.

Things are gonna work out just great.

Besides, if you go back to Missouri Crystal Naydean will kick your ass.

I wonder if anyone with a facebook account could contact either one of her loving caring sisters and tell what recently happened to Amber, so that they and their ancient father will get in the car and go to Tucson to pick her up, bringing her back home so that she can be properly committed in a place close to family.

I'm looking at Freeman Ozark Center in Joplin, and Lakeland Regional Hospital in Springfield; they both look like they have pretty nice psychiatric wards, and could make Amber comfortable.  I hope her sisters are aware of those places, when considering doing something.

Seriously. If she's going to make up a stereotypical Indian name for her imaginary friend it should be something that appeals to her fellow DUmmies, like, Speaks With A Lisp, Hand Always Out, Sleeps Until Noon, Bathes Once a Month ... something like that.

That reminds me of a scene in I think it was "Tremors" where Fred Ward tells about an Indian brave asking the medicine man (who decided all the baby's names) how he decided on names.  He told the young brave that after the baby was born he would walk outside and the first thing that caught his eye was incorporated into the child's name. He gave the examples of the boy's brother, Running Wolf and sister, White Swan.  Then he asked but why do you ask Two Dogs F******?

That's too funny..."Whitecloud."  We have our share of Mohawks up here.  Any Indian I know has a name like Joe or Bob or Paul.  Sometimes their last names evoke nature, but not always.

Makes me wonder, how do we know this is real? What if it's all some grand delusion Amber is having that seems so real she's convinced she's actually living it? Perhaps her sisters, in their quest to keep her safe, have confined her to the house and let her have a computer as an outlet.

It might be time to consider residential treatment...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe was a common practice among Native Americans of the southwest to name themselves like this.

They used names such as Geronimo or Chappo or Dohnsay or whatever.

As far as I know, only the Native Americans of the Upper Great Plains states used names descriptive of things.

"White Cloud" doesn't cut it for a Hopi or Navajo.

I think there is an apache reservation near Tucson.  South of Tucson is where Geronimo and Cochise hung out up in the Chiricahua mountains.  I love the southeast area of Arizona.  Lot's of history there.

Spent several days down there with friends, never had so much fun in my life  :-)

This is for Amber..LFR's

We are concerned about your well being and living on the streets even if it is by your own doing and not from outside circumstances.

I have come across a few helpful web site designed for survival , which I am sure you could use all the help that comes your way.

This 1st one is how to open cans without a can opener:

http://off-grid.info/blog/how-to-open-a-can-without-a-can-opener-amazing/

And the I found this one on how to heat a room for 15 cents a day, I am sure you can use it to heat your card board box instead.

We are here to help when we can. We also give better advice than DU, so please come back again.

No matter the tribal affiliation of her phony friend, there aren't very many American Indians that run around calling themselves Little Beaver or Dancing Elk nowadays.  Most go by more colorful names, names like Mike, Larry or Joe.

I don't think they ever told us what tribe was on Howdy Doody.

Princes Summerfallwinterspring and Chief Thunderthud. Maybe the Fugawee tribe.

No Whitecloud. Bad enough that it's racist and toilet papery, it's also gay.

I wonder how tolerant the noble savages were of homos in their midst.

Mostly Pima and Yaqui right around the Old Pueblo, as Tucson calls itself, the Apaches and some Navajos are around, too, but farther out.

Well, but she really needs to be institutionalized close to the sisters and the ancient father, so that they can superintend, in the "family sense," her mental health care, to help her get well all the quicker.

Who plans to be homeless? That is so bizarre.  She has lived on the streets before, so maybe there is something about it she likes or in her mind is comforting.

It's all just too weird  :mental:

I checked the wikipedia page for Ira Hayes since I knew that he was a Pima indian and I was stunned to find out that his nickname was Chief Falling Cloud--it doesn't say so, but that nickname was probably given to him by his pale faced Marine Corps brothers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ira_Hayes

After further reading, I found it does say:

Quote
U.S. Marine Corps[edit]
Hayes enlisted in the Marine Forces Reserve on August 26, 1942.[13] He completed recruit training in Platoon 701 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California and in October volunteered for Marine paratrooper (Parmarine) training at the Marine Parachute School at Camp Gillespie located east of San Diego where he received the codename of Chief Falling Cloud. On November 30, he graduated from the Parachute Training School and received his silver "jump wings".[12] On December 1, he received a promotion to Private First Class.[2]

5 cents please.

They really don't give a shit about her at all. For all the long, detailed posts she makes, she never gets more than 2-3 replies, at the most. And none from the high post big mouths that going on and on about their compassion for the poor and needy. They see her as a nothing, and have no concern for her at all. If she died tomorrow they wouldn't even blink. She is humiliating herself pouring her heart out there and they just step over her homeless heap to post about how progressive and caring they are. ::)

They hate her because of her celebrity status here.

They were all buddy-buddy with her while she was planning her latest episode of being a hobo.

Then she earned a high level of attention here and the jealousy set in.

I can't imagine how much Doug would be hated if they could remember him.

I just got back from Joplin.  The new hospital being built south of the interstate is going up fast.  It looks nice and roomy.  I am sure there is room for a psychiatric ward in it.

I also took note of a "now hiring" sign in the window of an establishment just off of exit 4.
