Justin Bieber On Health Care: U.S. System 'Evil'
Justin Bieber has taken the United States by storm, but if he gets sick, he may find himself retreating back to Canada -- and not just for the home-cooked meals.

Bieber, a 16-year old popstar who was nominated for two Grammys and saw his bio movie make $30 million this weekend, covers the new issue of Rolling Stone. In addition to talking the usual trappings of fame -- the music, the tour stories, the girls -- the magazine asked him to wade a bit into the political waters. At least on one major issue, he already has a fully formed opinion.

Asked if he wanted to become an American citizen, Bieber made clear his love for Canada -- and its health care system.

"You guys are evil," he told the magazine, out on February 18th. "Canada's the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you're broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard's baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home."

I've always made fun of the little twerp, but I'm duly impressed that he came out and said that. I wonder how many Faux loving parents are going to destroy their little girls Bieber stuff over this?

The line starts here.

Cougars to the right.

Pedophiles to the left.

Don't discount the strong rumor that Justin Bieber is a 27-year-old lesbian.

Mothers in British Columbia are having a baby boom, but it's the United States that has to deliver, and that has some proud Canadians blasting their highly touted government healthcare system.

Opponents of Medicare often raise issues such as long wait times, a 'brain-drain' drawing qualified professionals away from Canada to other jurisdictions where working in the health care field is more profitable, and impairment of the Canadian  health care system due to budget cuts. Fox News ran a story in 2007 reporting that during a period of above average numbers of births, at least 40 Canadian mothers of premature babies had to travel to the U.S. for treatment due to insufficient capacity for premature babies  in British Columbia neonatal units. Nonetheless, Canada's Medicare system covered the health care costs of those mothers affected

You were expecting any real discussion on that issue?  At Democrat Underground?  It's just "gimme my shit for free" and let me smoke dope wherever/whenever I want.

Hey, he said it not me.

Well, if he pays his income tax to Canada like a good little minion, their public health system will probably take care of that problem.  I hope he decides to keep a US workplace in NYC, so Bloomberg and the Canucks can fight over who gets to steal the most from him.

Dolllars to doughnuts the little sucker's earnings go to a US corporate entity though, and he gets spending cash doled out to him from it rather than earning and being taxed directly, though.  Put your checkbook where your mouth is, Justin.

Justin Bieber Shares Political Views, Reveals He's Pro-Life (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x429424)

Edited on Wed Feb-16-11 12:15 PM by Freddie Stubbs
Source: Entertainment Tonight

Though he's not old enough to vote yet, 16-year-old Justin Bieber discloses that he doesn't know much about politics but he does have some strong views on abortion.

"I'm not sure about the parties," the teen heartthrob admitted to Rolling Stone magazine when asked if he supports the Republicans or Democrats. "But whatever they have in Korea, that's bad."

Justin hasn't picked a political party but he is pro-life, telling the magazine, "I really don't believe in abortion. ... It's like killing a baby?" When asked how he feels about the procedure when it comes to victims of rape, he responded, "Um. Well, I think that's really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven't been in that position, so I wouldn't be able to judge that."

In addition to his pro-life views, Justin also shared some conservative views when it came to the subject of sex. "I don't think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them. ... I think you should just wait for the person you're ... in love with." The pop star is rumored to be dating 18-year-old Selena Gomez.

From what I understand, he was a nobody who posted videos on YouTube.  Some agent discovered him on YouTube... and now we're stuck with this girl in America.  I can't even get on Twitter without seeing at least two trending topics about Justin Beiber.  It's the most annoying thing in the world.

I found this on my hometown news site.

As the father of an almost eight year old girl, let me say no.  That Beiber chick got picked up, but more because of face than any real or special talent.  He is the result of a good advertising campaign aimed at the tweeny boppers.

I would comment about his music, but quite frankly, it's not worse than any of the rest of the crap that gets served up maquerading as music for this particular audience these days.  Which is to say it's no worse than two alleycats in a sack set to a beat.

If you want to see something eye-opening, look up either Gigantic or Degrassi on Nickteen.  They are marketing that crap to twelve year olds.

Twitter?  No wonder I had never heard of The Beibster.  I can honestly say I have never Twittered.  Somehow it doesn't seem 'manly'.  But along those lines, did you catch this one "Inessa Lee" the Ukrainian girl on American Idol?  I actually caught her initial appearance then a blurb on the news a couple nights ago.
Rather a waif-ish looking thing looking to create some buzz.

That's what I've heard, but was just making fun.  Like calling Rachel Maddow "him". :-)

25 years ago one Sunday morning, I went in a parts store to buy something because I had a machine down. It was a new independent store that was going to be open on Sundays. The young operator was with me. This sorta weird dude at the counter waited on us. When we went to leave I said "Thank you sir.". The young fellow with me turned and just about ran out the door. When I got to the truck, he was dying laughing. It took awhile for him to get his composure and tell me what was so funny. He was finally able to say, "You certainly made her day....calling her sir." and he was back to laughing his ass off. Yeah, she was one of those and he knew it because he had been to school with her.

Funny thing is that whenever I went in the store after that, she'd drop whatever and whoever she was waiting on to wait on me. I went to the head of the line automatically. :-)

No malicious intent to you as an individual, and as a member here, sir, but I've always been curious as to someone famous who's come out of Canada.

Of course, there's the population disparity; despite that Canada is larger in size than the United States, Canada of course has only ever had a tenth the population of the United States.  (Something which many people, especially primitives on Skins's island, fail to realize.)

The only Canadian of Note of whom I can think is the Earl of Athlone, who was Governor-General there about a hundred years ago.  And he was British, not Canadian.

There was the actor Lorne Greene, but he had to come to the United States to become famous.

(Again, no slam here; Nebraska is notorious for producing people who have to go elsewhere to become famous.)

Yeah, yeah, there's been some famous prime ministers, such as Dieffenbacher and Pearson and Laurier, but really, they would've made only middling U.S. Presidents.

I always considered the situation of Canada as being analogous with that of Ukraine--when I was wandering around the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, at some point it struck me that all the "Ukrainian" national heroes were actually non-Ukrainians, usually Poles and Hungarians.

It's a most peculiar phenomenon, Canada.

edited to change "St. Laurent" to "Laurier;" it's been a while since I've read Canadian history, and hence the initial error--sorry for the inconvenience
