Yeah.  Just on the local radio here.  No details found yet.  Found dead.  He was on the plane yesterday
that had a "hard" landing in Tampa as the front tire blew out of the plane.  They replayed an interview
they had of him, yesterday, after the landing with him saying something like, "Yeah, it was a hard landing
but I have a hard head!"  I don't know if he was implying he hit his head or not?

Obviously I don't know, but I'd put dollars to donuts on heart attack.

Oh, no! This is awful!
Now the field is wide open for the ShamWow guy.

It is ironic that of all the deaths being publicized the past week, the one most deserving of regret and sadness among decent people is the one least mentioned, i.e., the football coach in Iowa.

DEVELOPING: Television pitchman Billy Mays — who built his fame by appearing on commercials and infomercials promoting household products and gadgets — died Sunday, FOX News confirms.

Mays was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla., home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry to May's residence and foul play is not suspected. Authorities said an autopsy should be complete by Monday afternoon.

Mays, 50, was on board a US Airways flight that blew out its front tires as it landed at a Tampa airport on Saturday, MyFOXTampa.com reported. ...

Billy seemed like a nice guy that worked hard all of his life to get where he was at.

Friday morning a Las Vegas TV morning show read one of my comments on the air: "It's a bad week for famous people, that's why I'm not famous"  :evillaugh:

Wow. I guess the flight crew is serious when they put on the 'Fasten Seat Belt' sign.  What a useless way to go. :(

I read an interview with him a few weeks ago... he said he was so busy, he could pick and choose what products he got to sell.  I bet he was doing pretty well for himself.

I'm not sure where TMZ got that?  They were landing, so you'd THINK he'd be wearing a seat belt?
He did say the overhead compartment(s) DID come flying open upon the hard landing and that all the
butt-heads who insist on carrying their checkable luggage came flying out and hit him in the head.(with
all due respect to you butt-heads who insist on carrying on checkable luggage  :whatever:)

Yup, T13 and Euph . . .

I considered him "The Most Annoying Pitchman on TV," but when he started to pitch a relatively (?) inexpensive health insurance plan whose name escapes me at the moment, my respect for him went way up.  And when he started to do the ESPN360.com commercials, you could tell that he was really enjoying spoofing himself.

Wouldn't it be something if Andrew Sullivan and/or the ShamWow! guy did the eulogy at his funeral?  (Yes, I should spend some time in Purgatory for that.)

Sad news for sure. It could have been a concussion that went unnoticed. All informercails are meant to be annoying to attract attention. He just happened to be good at doing his job. Some people are politicians.

Well, I didn't know about his pitching for a health insurance plan or the ESPN360 commercials (whatever those are - I don't watch ESPN, either). Kinda thought all he did was soap and run around with a dyed beard/hair.

His death is a tragedy, especially if it's due to his stupidity in not wearing a seat belt while the aircraft landed. I mean, I feel bad for his family.

All the same, very, very few pitchmen annoyed me more than Mays. What full-grown adult male runs around calling himself "Billy" anyway?

But the all-time TV-Personality-Who-Irritates-The-Shit-Out-Of-Eupher Winner (Loser?) is none other than Rachael Ray. The ShamWow guy comes in a close third.
