Man, this is a refrain I get tired of hearing- "raise the minimum wage and all problems will be solved."
I honestly wonder if any of the posters at DU have ever run a business or even worked at any kind of business. I'm not an economic wizard by any stretch of the imagination but I have worked at companies as they've dealt with a raise in the minimum wage. They either lay off people and make do with a smaller staff (unemployment increase), or they raise the cost of the goods or services they provide to cover the increased wage, and so now while the minimum wage workers are making more, they are also paying more for cost of living.
Simplistic view, I know, but these guys can't even seem to comprehend simple.
