Tony_FLADEM (1,727 posts) Scott Walker won the recall election not because voters approve of him. Rather because some voters don't think recall elections are a good idea. 10-15% of Democrats probably voted for Walker even though they do not support him politically because they think "we have elections every 2 years and this is adequate." Unfortunately, it will be interpreted as political support for Walker.http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002771316

progress2k12nbynd1. Thanks PBO for really fighting for us...A tweet? A fkin tweet? So glad to know you got our backs in WI... Couldn't take TWO SECONDS from his own reelection campaign. We can all agree that his reelection is important but this election in Wisconsin was MUCH bigger than any one office...

Godhumor Wisconsin was not Obama's fault nor is it a referendum on himI understand the disappointment that the recall did not go the right way, especially in the immediate aftermath, but, holy shit, perspective is still needed.http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002771618
quinnoxThe Democratic party needs to make a hard turn to the leftThe results tonight show the strategy of the leaders of the Democrats aren't working, being wishy-washy and mushy isn't going to inspire anyone. Hopefully this will be a wake-up call to the powers that be, otherwise I fear we will be saying hello to President Romney come November. This is a disaster, and its time for the Democratic leadership to change course, hard.http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002771564

Wisconsin voters chose austerity and high unemployment with low wages and no benefits. Wisconsin voters WANT McJobs.

I didWas flying out of Milwaukee this afternoon and spoke to a young black man who works at the airport. Asked him who he voted for and he said WALKER and, after I picked myself up from off the ground, I asked why. He said he was raised to not take handouts (so, OK, his entire family has bought the crapola) so I explained to him that the Rethugs were out to take everything away from him and that I really like my SS check each month and did he really think he would ever get HIS SS check at an older age? He looked stymied and provided no answer but to reiterate that he was taught to never take "handouts". I also explained that it was the Dems that had a long history of helping people like me/him and not the Repubs. Then I asked him if he voted Obama in '08 and he said yes and that he will also vote Obama in November. So yes, Virginia (and Wisconsin) YOU CAN BUY AN ELECTION. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Response to MOMFUDSKI (Reply #3)Tue Jun 5, 2012, 10:27 PM HiPointDem (2,102 posts) 5. Well . . . . . your 'smeller' is off tonite. I flew up to Milwaukee last Wednesday to visit my son/family and returned to Florida today. I am FROM Milwaukee and deeply Dem. I am sick about what is happening to my state and my son up there. And I am equally sick about our Tea Party guv here in Florida. I usually just read DU (have been for over a year now) but I actually signed in tonite to tell my airport story. We are all very upset with the results and I understand your response. After speaking to the young black guy I went over and told my husband about our conversation and he just shook his head. I was blown away by his answers. So, call me a troll if you must but my heart is with all the folks at DU and in Wisconsin. I was very happy to find this site and read it every day. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Response to MOMFUDSKI (Reply #9)Tue Jun 5, 2012, 11:06 PM shcrane71 (952 posts) 10. America...
Speck TaterIs DU inside a bubble? Is our view of reality distorted by our preconceptions? Do we have an unrealistic picture of what the American people really want? I don't think so! I believe that the fault is ours and ours alone. In this era of mass marketing we at fault for our lack of focus, message discipline and education of the public. We roll over and let the Republicans frame the issues, and call the shots at every turn. Democrats are weak, lilly-livered cowards, and the Republicans know it. They know perfectly well that they can wipe their muddy boots on our faces and we won't complain. We are probably getting the very ass-kicking we deserve! They say that in the long run the people gets the government they deserve. I guess that the Democratic party is getting the results they deserve.http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002772036
TheWraith 1. Yes, DU is inside a bubble.Sorry, but it's abjectly true.
scheming daemonsThe GOP relies on "divide and conquer"And any of you that spend any time during the next five months bashing Obama are helping them. The GOP is united ... even though most of them don't even like Romney. We must be as well. Put away your Obama gripes for 5 months. We are in a war. We need our guns aimed outward at the barbarians at the gate, not aimed inward.http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002771972

Don't come here crying when a loved one with no insurance becomes ill and has no way to pay and can't' obtain treatment. Don't cry when your house burns down because the FD has been cut to bare bones and you got no response. Don't come here to bitch when your kid is in middle school and can't read because teachers are paid the rates of fastfood workers and no longer give a shit if Jonney can read. Don't say you didnt know or that you didn't think it could ever happen to you (cause, you're too smart. Right?). It's just a matter of time before your life is affected negatively by your beloved, greedy corporate bought republican politicians. Your day is coming. Oh yes it is.
