I've been a little intoxicated at work twice in the 22 years I've been there. Once was when we had an "overtime rush job" come in during our shop Christmas party. The other time, they called me on my cell phone while my wife and I were out.  They wanted me to come in even though I told them I had been drinking.

Before I left Florida I worked for a art wholesaler running their logistics and inventory. Every Friday when we were paid we'd all give the boss' husband $5 and he'd starting buying cases of Heineken at noon. We didn't stop working (or drinking) until 7PM.

Good times.

When I was still traveling and working iron I showed up still 'tipsy' on a few occassions.  It was always fun to be hanging iron on those days.

Jeeze I was a dumbass.

So the TwixVoy DUmmie blames himself getting drunk on something else other than him.  What was it?  Depression or something?  Then the other loser DUmmie from last night complains that he had to quit college because he was so stressed out about the student loans he took out to go to college.  I cannot remember that DUmmie's name.

These two are so typical of the liberal mindset.  Do something really really dumb and blame God knows what.  The one thing I was certainly taught growing up was to not blame others for my failures.  What do they call that these days?  Oh yeah ~ RESPONSIBILITY!

I take it these two have also reproduced which means we've got a new generation of blamers and losers growing up.

Is he serious? How his life is gone? My husband moved out and in with his girlfriend, was being dipshitty about seeing the kids, spent all the bonus he got on his girl and now we are losing the house(I'm taking 2 weeks between jobs to not only find a place but hopefully find one that leaves my kids in their schools and at least in the school district), and I've had to work fulltime for the first time in 12 years, apply for some assistance in the process, and figure out how to get care for my kids, including an autistic child. And all this while being surrounded by emotional vampires that are my family and my ex and having the 'pleasure' of being told by a 50 year old childless wonder that WAS his girlfriend about how to raise our children when he gets his feelings hurt. I also spent the 2 weeks before being employed, in the hospital with my autistic son who had his appendix burst and then I tore my calf muscle during a workout and its just now about 100% 3 months later.

If anyone has reason to drink, it would be me :-) However, somehow I'm able to save a glass of wine or a beer for a day here or there AFTER work and AFTER working out. And the job I took, I got a nod from the VP there and only ended up resigning because I got a closer job to my home with better hours working for the feds.

WTH is wrong with some people. I think he used the drinking to get fired so he could then lie his but off and take a chance to hopefully get himself some extended ue benefits. dipshit! I have 3 kids and I could have stumbled at my job too and had the same ending so I could buy another 2 years of staying home with the kids too, but what's the point of it?

And a hard year? Spare me...he's have curled up and died if he lived the year I just lived. I hope no woman opens her legs to this guy. He hasn't earned the privelege or pleasure of being in any woman's ying yang unless he has to pay for it and well, he doesn't work so fat chance of that.

He's going to need welfare, because they won't give him unemployment.  Not after being fired for being intoxicated at work.  At least I HOPE he doesn't get unemployment.

Sadly, there are in fact some states that will STILL give him unemployement even after termination for cause.

I need to find a state that does that, work 90 days show up drunk and sit on my ass and collect a check.  :-)

Oh wait I have too much dignity to do that. It's funny how they bitch and moan that some jobs don't have dignity and refuse to do them but, will happily sit with hands held open waiting to be filled. I'd rather have to pick up dog crap at work then to be a total leech on society.

I'll pay the worthless stooge $250 a week to wipe my toilet seat every time I take a leak.

Hell, I'll even let him live in my garage and drink as often as he wants to, if that's how he wants to roll.

Actually, I like Lewis Black's idea...if I get rich enough, pay someone a decent wage, full benefits, etc., just to be my personal ball-washer.

Goodness girl - you have had a hard year!  I went through that many years ago but with only one child.  It's not fun but the strong do certainly survive.  I definitely have a new admiration for you.

f*** my life. i have been in a major depression lately worried about bills and other disasters.

long story short i came to work drunk. i knew it was stupid, and honestly i haven't even had a drink in several years. just something about the way this year has gone. it seems like no matter how hard you try you always get screwed over in some way.

don't know what to do next really. i suppose i just try to find something else... but honestly years of this "work" thing hasn't gotten me anywhere. i'm about to just call it quits and move in with family and take break for a while.

no point to this post really. actually i'm pretty out of it. just another american who has worked for years and has nothing to show for it.

Life and bad luck have to take a break from pounding on DUmmy's on Wedensday's. I shoot every Wedensday and go out to eat with the boys afterward. I miss all the good disasters.

From what I've heard, jobs at Whole Foods are pretty good jobs.  I mean, have you heard about their health care plan?  I'm not sure the DUmmies ever talked about that.

 :whistling:

They are. A friend of mine was a store manager for many years, worked her way up from a Twix-like position. Funny, she did that for years before she recently stayed home with her son---she put years in and moved up because..well for one, she never showed up to work drunk and her husband was in a band that actually toured internationally too. Imagine how she managed it?  :lmao: Lord..I didn't realize it was whole foods. I should tell my girl about this one! :lmao:

Sounds like he was just so obviously schnockered that they canned him immediately for that.  I would assume that TwixVoy left something out of this story, imagine that from a DUmmy.

I would guess if they are more lenient then this was so flagrant and not the first incident that it got him canned immediately that day.

Man, I have been thinking and thinking about this dumb schmuck.  How messed up do you have to be to trash a gig at Whole Foods?  I am not saying they are lacksidaisical about their screening process.  I mean how messed up do you have to be to think that losing your job there is a good thing?  They have been consistently nominated for Fortune's Top 100 like a brazillion times or something.  In that industry (check out line) that is like the top of the food chain.

What a complete and utter pud!   :thatsright:

I don't believe they even do drug screens for employment so they are giving users plenty of opportunity to do what they want on their own time(what dummies and assorted others say they want) however I'm sure coming to work tuckered in some way is not acceptable--then you are not on your own time. They compensate them in many ways generously for employees who are allowed to tattoo, pierce, and smoke themselves silly afterhours to come to work sober and ready to work for their scheduled shift. Too much for Twix i guess.
