Anyone ever wonder why
One of the most magnificent creatures on the face of the planet, the elephant, is the symbol of the MAGAt party? These intelligent animals build matriarchal societies, defend their offspring with a ferocity that rivals any simian's and honor their ancestors in perpetuity.
All traits diametrically opposed to the MAGAt culture.
A better symbol for the party of Bloated Tick is a virus or a cancer.

Perhaps it's because we don't forget or pretend that yesterday never happened, unlike a certain opposition party that is represented by the jackass, but would be more accurately represented by a pile of jackass excrement along with a sign that said 'democrats were here'.
The base of one of those two parties wishes to preserve and protect that magnificent world which our forefathers built, the base of the other wishes to destroy it and crap all over its smoking ruins while patting themselves on the back and insisting that it is progress.
In short: ****.All.The.Way.Off.

Well, after we freed the slaves and passed civil rights, I would think the elephant was proud. The donkeys sat on their hands then cried tears because they were no longer allowed to own people and it bothered them those people were allowed to vote and be seen as real people.

Quick DDG tells us it first pops up during Lincoln's 1984 reelection campaign, and refers to the phrase "seeing the elephant" which meant engaging in combat. Later it gets popularized by the cartoon below in response to Democrat claims that Grant was going to run for a third term.

In addition to abortion, don't forget the Dems are also big on sexualizing children at increasingly younger ages, grooming them in public school classes taught by twisted deviants and "Drag Queen Story Hours" run with so little accountability or basic concern for children's safety that it was revealed that at least three of the drag queens who participated in them were convicted child sex offenders, proudly support the ACLU which has repeatedly pushed for the full legalization of child pornography, vehemently oppose laws that would impose strict mandatory sentences for child molesters (i.e. Jessica's Law), and in general believe that convicted child molesters should be let off with probation and counseling and never set foot inside a prison cell.
So, Republicans being represented by an animal that fiercely protects/ defends its offspring seems pretty fitting.
