Title: White Elephant Christmas gift ideas
Post by: Ralph Wiggum on November 04, 2022, 05:38:48 PM
Not that I'm jumping ahead to starting to celebrate Christmas yet, but was given advance notice that there will be a White Elephant gathering sometime after Thanksgiving.

Apparently am participating in one of these things again this year. Not amongst family, but a fun group of my fellow high school classmates. Last year, some goofball decided just two days before our party in late December that we should do one of these exchanges. That gave me zero time to order or waste my time searching for something creative and fun, so I simply bought a nice bottle of wine and stuffed it in a gift bag.

Considering I have plenty of time, would appreciate some random and fun knickknack ideas that I can discover. And think our dollar limit is under $20.

A box of Crayola crayons might work well. Especially if they're made with "solar power." Might be a good conversation starter.  :lmao:

Gloves for winter.
Head lamp (the type you wear)
Pocket knife
Mini Versa tool
Many years ago I made mix cassettes, music from my LP collection, have done the same with USB and my CD collection. (this has always gone over very well, it just takes time)
Ball cap or shirt for a local team
Gift card for a local brewery

This is strange, I still can never figure out what to get my wife for Christmas! LOL

Well, Dblhaul ,  just a thought here ...  :-)

Have you asked her what she might possibly want /need this year?   Am sure she really doesn't expect you to be a mind-reader on such things!

Afterall, poor baby ... you are merely a man, are you not?    :-)   :bolt:

ABC, that line was typed in jest.
We have come to an age that we don't worry about gifts, if we want something we go get it.
I do have to admit that we spend a lot of time getting gifts for our grandkids!

Love it Dblhaul!  Sorry about that!

In reality ... Both Mr. ABC & I are very difficult to buy for as well. Since we always purchase what we need as we go along.

Besides, I would never let my dear hubby pick out especially any type of clothing, shoes etc.  of any kind for me, even if he did know what I would like to have!  YIKES!  What a thought!  :-)

ABC, my better half made it official this evening. No gifts exchanged between us again this year.
I will cook a nice prime rib on the smoker and she will do a couple sides.
We will start the day video chatting with the grandkids that are 9 hours ahead of us.
Merry Christmas!

I am a guy and have been wearing the same pants and shurts for 20 years. For guys the fashions just don't change, even in ties. Since I have been telecommuting foe 8 years except for some hyprid gigs I mostly just need sweats.

Hi freedom ...  love the name, btw darlin' (hugs)

A piece of advice for you if you are willing to accept it.   :-)

Please at least send the same pair of  pants & shirt to the cleaners. Whew! The smell after 20 long years, must be overwhelming to say the least!!!  :rotf:  :rotf: :rotf:

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours!

Will personally send you a brand new pair of pants & shirt of your choosing, If the above sentence I wrote actually turns out to be in color!  Never has yet in here!   :bawl:

Here goes, posting now.  We shall see!

Whoa, doing a prime rib? You'd better pony up close to $200 for a 3-rib USDA choice. That's enough Christmas gift for anybody!  :lmao:

Wow! For sure Santa will not be putting "coal in YOUR stocking" this Christmas"  for being a skin-flint, Dblhaul!

In fact, he should even drop in a few of your "favorite things" no matter how costly they may be !!! ...

PLUS, along with those, a hint to  invite  Mr. ABC and I for your next Christmas dinner (that "I" won't have to prepare) if I promise to bring at least one or two of my favorite sides, especially my good old fashioned English/Canadian ROAST POTATOES!

Deal?   :-)

Yes, it will be a 3 rib choice grade prime rib. And you are correct, they are not cheep! But, Christmas comes only once a year.
Sides will be Twice Baked Russets and a vegie.

Will be a nice day with snow on the ground.  :-)

Nah, I just stand 'em in the corner between wearings.  Next to the underwear I stick to the wall.

You offer is most kind, though.
