Title: "Beautiful Day" 2022
Post by: SVPete on October 09, 2022, 01:37:48 PM
Some 18 years ago some people, including at least one pastor, at a San Jose Evangelical church asked themselves how much could be done by several hundred member volunteers spending both weekend days (including not having church services) working on projects in the community. Through the years, projects have included hosting blood drives, decorating and hosting dinners for victims of domestic violence, renovation at facilities for recovering addicts, and minor renovation and significant landscaping at public schools. This is the webpage for 2022 projects, https://www.beautifulday.org/upcoming-projects/ , being carried out this weekend (I worked at one yesterday afternoon).

Since 2004, the several hundred volunteers grew into a couple thousand, Beautiful Day became independent from its founding church, and several other churches have members participating in projects. Beautiful Day also does occasional one-off projects during the rest of the year. The City of San Jose recognizes Beautiful Day as a got-to organization for certain types of projects.

Sadly, this is the kind of charity DU-grade Progs want to shut down. It's a private charity organization, not a government agency. Beautiful Day does projects in - horrors! - public schools and in cooperation with city governments. And, double-horrors, it's, largely, Evangelical Christians not conforming to Progs' stereotypes of uncaring, unloving, aloof Christians.

Sounds like exactly the type of thing that Jesus would favor, which explains why the proglodytes can't tolerate it.

Good on you for taking part. That's part of being in a community. My BIL, who lives directly in Ian's path, dodged a pretty big bullet. The damages on his property were minor and small, so he also did the right thing and is helping his neighbors out too. His son also came in from Phoenix to do the same.

Beautiful Day sounds like the type of community support system that I would support.

Keep doing the good work!
