Seems to me that all of these "progressive heroes" have serious issues with moral failings and making bad choices.  I think we should be thankful that most of them implode before they get serious power.

Oh quit, Edwards is a slime ball regardless of his political or religious leanings.  A real Grafter out to fleece the public and family.

His girlfriend and his so called friends that all engaged in this sordid mess, are no better then he is.    He is not the first to have a love child, not the first to use public money to support them.

I remember DR Zhivago movie, people steaming out of the theater in tears.   Me, I was discusted that a Doctor left his wife in labor to look for his lost love.  Great love story my Ass, this was betrayal of a wife and child. Then the song Laura's theme drove me nuts.  All about what she wanted and to hell with anyone else.  

So Edwards reminds me of that movie, living a double life and betraying friends and family all for Lust.  Then everyone felt SORRY for him.

This was way back in the 1960's, the beginning to the entitlement generation that was all out for what they want and to hell with anyone else.    They may have felt guilty for 30 seconds but  " I love my family BUT, oh you Kid "

This knee jerk reaction on my part I place myself in the position of a wife that spends their youth working for her husbands carear, rises his what 4-5 kids and just as both their dreams are close to his carear she finds she is in the battle of her life CANCER. Now she needs his support as she has given him for years and he is off gallivanting about with his pregnant Mistress.

To make matters worse the stress increases for her when this goes public, the shame of a woman cast aside as not a good enough wife for her husband.   The last few months of her life with him fighting to be kept in her Will, him fighting to keep the property her family left to her.
