approving roar for McCain in heartland

The headline here's from Drudge (in fact, it's the lead on Drudge), but here's the story:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080805/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_5

Quote
McCain visiting motorcycle rally, nuke power plant

STURGIS, S.D. - Thousands of motorcyclists greeted Republican presidential candidate John McCain with an approving roar Monday as he sought blue-collar and heartland support by visiting a giant motorcycle rally.

"As you may know, not long ago a couple hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day," McCain said, referring to Democrat Barack Obama's recent visit to the German capital.

Quote
McCain was accompanied by Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., who has been mentioned as a potential running mate. He had warned the McCain campaign that a politician might receive an unfriendly welcome, but McCain relished the warm embrace.

His wife, Cindy, also paid tribute to the crowd, saying: "I'd like to thank all of you for your support of our troops, and here's why: I'm many things in my life, and one thing I'd like to be is your first lady. But more importantly, I'm Jack McCain's mother and Jimmy McCain's mother, one in the U.S. Navy and another one in the Marine Corps, an Iraqi vet."

It still bothers me that my support for McCain is derived from my burning desire to see all liberals/democrats/socialists meltdown with the white heat of a million suns when their ridiculous candidate crashes and burns on Election Day.

McCain is slowly chipping away at Obama's supporters...
Quote
"McCain made signifciant gains at Obama's expense among some of what had been Obama's strongest demographic groups," Zogby said.

His findings:

-Among voters aged 18-29, Obama lost 16 percent and McCain gained 20. Obama still leads, 49-38;

-Among women, McCain gained 10 percentage points. Obama now leads 43-38;

-Among independents, Obama lost an 11 point lead. They're now tied;

-Among Democrats, Obama's support dropped from 83 percent to 74 percent;

-Among Catholics, Obama lost the 11 point lead he had in July and now trails McCain by 15.

Zogby said Obama also lost ground among minorities.

I'm curious as to how many people will vote for Obama, just because of those fears.

It is pretty much a given.  Obama is not going to come close to winning.  All the BS you are hearing is typical of every presidential year.  In the illusion we call the MSM, every four years, all democrats are destined to win just because they are democrats.  It so rarely comes true you'd think they would be embarrassed by now to continue.  No democrat has been voted in by a majority in 32 years - and that time was a victim of circumstances.  Before that election, it has been 44 years - and that election was a victim of circumstances.  Then you have to go back 60 years.....

small correction...

all the BS we're hearing is the same EXCEPT that the dem candidate doesn't have the "commanding" lead they always have at this point in time.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

I really think there might be riots and burning buildings when the Messiah loses. Here McCain's sons are in the Military while Obama has always enjoyed all of the freebies affirmative action can give him and his wife.

MANY -- there is a sociological effect (I can't recall the name) wherein people want others, even strangers, to think well of them.  Do they will lie to pollsters to make themselves look good.  In reality, there are probably a good number of people who think in their hearts that hussein is not qualified (or -- let's be honest here -- will never in a billion years vote for a Black man) but don't want anyone to think so.

I think McCain is sitting on a 10-15% margin that will not show up in the polls, ever.

john f'ing kerry (who, I hear was in Vietnam) was 13 points ahead in all polls at this time 4 years ago.

Now that McCain himself has been thrown under the bus by his formerly fawning friends in the press, he's almost turned into a Republican.  He might even end up a Conservative before all is said and done.  And the Republicans too.  Good show in the dark, I say.  It's about time.

Now Bush has to call Congress back for the theater to have any sort of real power behind it.
