16. Sheriff's Dept. News Conference on local TV now...

They say the first officer was shot in the head and died. The person who refused to give up their car was also shot in the head, condition unknown.

The woman is in custody in Placer Co., and prior to the news conference, reporters said law enforcement is evacuating people and zeroing in on an area in Placer Co. where they think the male suspect is hiding.

What a day... whew...

The report I heard said that the assailants were 'Hispanic-looking.'  Were they 'white Hispanics?'
