Ms. Ed gets scalped

Oh my.

Having heard, but not yet seen, that Ms. Ed, the unappellated eohippus, made an ass of herself on Skins's island yesterday (Wednesday), I got out the boat and went over to look for the spectacle.  I haven't seen it yet, but came across this, from about three weeks ago:

Concert ticket--online ticket scalping (Avoid Ticket Triangle)

I purchased some concert tickets online for a popular concert. I paid close to $400 for the tickets. I got a confirmation letter that said "Your order has been processed successfully". I then got a follow up email stating the same thing and they charged my debit card and that the tickets would be shipped express.

Tonight, I got an email that said there was a problem with my order. They told me they were unable to fill my order and had credited back my debit card. To start with--it takes several days to get my money BACK into my account, so, it is going to hurt my financial chances to get more tickets.

But what is this?

I purchased tickets on a certain row and certain section, they processed my debit card and then almost 36 hours later, they tell me they cannot fill my order?

Is this online scalping? Is there any recourse?

Does anyone know any reputable ticket sites besides Ticketmaster?

Here is the website for the crooked ticket dealers--

www.tickettriangle.com

Now, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.

Ms. Ed, allegedly an R.N. who makes $24,000 a year, of which $500 a month is deducted for her medical insurance, multiple people who must be fed in the house down there in northern Texas, and a bunch of automobiles demanding fuel and insurance and maintenance.....and Ms. Ed can blow $400 on a concert?

Ms. Ed's lying about something.  As usual.

1. Looks like this is a reseller...

...or "scalper" depending on what the local laws are. They may have had a promise of tickets, which they offered to you, and then the tickets didn't show up.

3. Grrrrr

Nowhere did I see that written.

There was a list of tickets available and those were the ones I chose.

I am sure that this was buried in the fine print--but wanted to make people aware of their shady business dealings.

2. It's not online scalping, it's apparently an online ripoff.

If it were just scalping, you'd at least get your tickets--horribly overpriced, but you'd get them.

I have found StubHub to be a reliable ticket reseller. Yeah, I bought Hannah Montana tickets for my nieces and their mom through them. Nosebleed seats and high priced, but otherwise unavailable, and they were for real. Girls had a great time. Given that I have no kids of my own, I considered the tickets my investment in perhaps not being placed in a nursing home against my will someday.

4. Yeah and I was willing to do it for my granddaughter

I totally get it.

I'm just pissed because I had to pay 8 times the face value and STILL didn't get the tickets...

10. I go to a lot of concerts.

Hell I just saw P-Funk last week. Buying tickets I dont have a problem with - if I dont get them through Ticketbastard on the same day I just dont get them. I do complain about them a lot - but at least their prices are fair. There's a local ticket seller that charges through the ****ing ROOF for tickets to sold out events - I wanted ticket to a Flogging Molly show and they were sold out - I checked with this seller and they were charging $85 for a $25 ticket! That's highway robbery right there.

11. I've given up on all arena concerts because of ticket sellers.

I'd have a better time going out on the town.

franksolich is wondering about something.

Ms. Ed stated that Ticketmaster is reputable.

Well then, why didn't Ms. Ed try to get tickets from a place she considers reputable?

There was a definite advantage of having ACORN do your taxes over H&R BLOCK.

Let me guess... Ticketmaster is a freepish company, therefore, she will not buy her tickets there?

Freepish company = reliable purchase

non freep company = problem with her order.

I think the tickets may have cost more than the $400 she was willing to pay.  She thought she had found herself a good deal and was willing to chance it.  They are a reseller site.  She should have checked online.  A google search, and this was the forth listing. http://www.complaintsboard.com/bycompany/ticket-triangle-a46377.html

Yeah.

One time Ms. Ed complained that she paid $500 a month for medical insurance, and that it was 25% of her monthly salary.

That $24,000 a year includes overtime, too.

Aslo possibly there were none available through Ticketmaster and the mark-up resellers had the only ones available.  The only thing you can be sure of with these DUmmie stories is that you aren't getting the full and unmodified truth on any of them.

"Ticket reseller" is an internet euphemism for scalper. Surely even DUmmies are aware of that.

Nearly everything "ticket resellers" like Stubhub handle is marked up 3 to 100 times face value.

Unless it's a very small venue, it's far more economical to arrive a little early and search for bargains
among the dozens of sidewalk "resellers". Just be sure to carry a seating chart.

Mrs. Ed is a DUmmy, so it's very possible the purpose of this thread was simply to brag to her fellow
DUmmies that she has access to $400.

Wow....

an RN that makes $24k a year... :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:...my daughter's an Xray Tech and makes over $50K....RN's make more....

health care is provided for medical personnel...particularly if they work in a hospital....the health care profession takes care of it's own....always has and probably always will.

$400 for concert tickets?

who would have thought such an accomplished liar would be so stupid to pay that much to go see a concert!!!! :thatsright:

I don't think she's an RN, then.  She would be an LPN or some such.  Something from a two-year degree.  Or, maybe she just wishes she was a nurse, and instead works in the hospital cafeteria.

Even LPN's are making more money than that....unless she's only working part time.

A friend's daughter is an RN, works 12hrs each on Saturday and Sunday...on the oncology floor and it's considered full time. She had no trouble buying $150k house several years ago....she had to be making close to $60-65k then.

yes....there probably are....because they can afford to....

there was a time that we paid a ridiculous amount for UT season football tickets, especially if the required "donation" was split out "per game"...we did it because we wanted to go to the games and could afford to do so....

but doing the math, for someone who makes 24k/yr - minus taxes - minus $500/m health insurance - $1000/m for living expenses like shelter, food, gas, etc = not enough disposable income to sensibly spend $400 for concert tickets.

but that's just my opinion.... :uhsure:

I've always had the supposition that Ms. Ed is actually a keyboardist in a hospital or clinic, based upon the way Ms. Ed posts her comments on Skins's island.

I imagine a keyboardist would make circa $24,000.
