DUing while impaired

Have you ever done something while impaired you regret later? It happened to me this afternoon here in GD. It will happen again if I stay as a regular.

Perhaps I should change my name to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Try to remember I'm not who I was when I joined a little over ten years ago. OS doesn't really exist anymore.

I wear plastic casts on my thumbs for arthritis in the daytime. Even simple copy and paste takes awhile. It took a couple hours to put this all together.

I wear braces on my hands at night until I have surgery in a month or two for carpal tunnel syndrome. Just one hand at a time.

I've been on a CPAP since 2001. It was very hard to kick lunesta a few years ago. There was a missed warning there.

Both shoulders and both sides of my neck have damage from 2 at work accidents, and a car accident back on Christmas Day a couple years ago on my way home from work.

By now I'm sure you know pain killers are part of my life. Mood swings and periods of lack of judgement are right out of the medical books for me with everything going on. Think of what Marta has to put up with.

A couple dozen DUers know what is slowly killing me. I thank every single one of them for keeping my secret. I'll write that tell all post when it is time to leave for good.

I'm going to try to be a real life volunteer for newly diagnosed terminal patients. I'm going downhill, so I have no idea how long it will last. Because of the nature of what I'll be doing is confidential, I really can't share much. My first venture is next week.

I'll be attending the state boys basketball tournament for I hope the next three days if my team keeps winning, so I won't be on the DU as much as I have been since I retired.

I love the DU. When the time comes to leave I will loose a huge extended & caring family.

Sometime after that it will be the theme from M*A*S*H.

I do want to stay on the DU. Please let me know when Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde have overstayed their welcome, because I won't know it myself.

BTW, those cowards living in a cave don't bother me in anymore.  They haven't for a long time!

Much love,

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde A.K.A. OS

My reaction upon reading that?--well, good for him; we don't bother him.

Annoying the primitives on Skins's island is not one of the functions of the DUmpster anyway.

I mean, yeah, it probably happens once in a while, but it's not our principal purpose.

The purpose of the DUmpster is to amuse and entertain decent and civilized people, nothing more than that.

Looks like we're going to have a new GBCW post every week or so.

Wonder why he suddenly got a dozen replies? Hmm? They all lurk here.

Anyway, the Big Guy is in the clear, since he got a pass from the reigning Top DUmmy, Big Mo:

That however truly shocked me.

Of all the primitives, all of them, CaliforniaPeggy struck me as the one least likely to use such language.

No, she has used gutter language a number of times.

She's not as vulgar as most democrat women, but she's posted like that several times.

Of course, what does "f***k" mean, anyway? "Flunk"? ""Flank"? "Frank", maybe?

"Sometime after that it will be the theme from M*A*S*H. "

Sounds like OS intends to off himself. The name of the theme song from M*A*S*H* is 'Suicide is Painless'.  - All anybody thinks about is the flute in the song - not the almost never heard lyrics.

Quote from: Johnny Mandel and Michael B Altman
Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...

[REFRAIN]:
That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.

I try to find a way to make
All our little joys relate
Without that ever-present hate
But now I know that it's too late, and...

[REFRAIN]

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say.

[REFRAIN]

The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
And to another give my seat
For that's the only painless feat.

[REFRAIN]

The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...

[REFRAIN]

A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
Is it to be or not to be
And I replied 'oh why ask me?'

[REFRAIN]

'Cause suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.

What a drama queen.

Honestly, what kind of a mutant has been declaring for months that they are terminally ill and then makes a big deal over keeping the reason a secret?

What a drama queen.

I still dunno why he had to single us out like that.

If the DUmpster annoys a primitive, it's the primitive's own fault.

All the DUmpster's doing is quoting the primitive.

And given that the DUmpster's about the only place on the internet that pays any attention to the primitives, the primitives need to be grateful for this additional exposure.

The big guy doesn't want to admit that the root cause of it is a lifetime of indolence, decadence, and utter self-indulgence.  He's not man enough to admit his current woes are his own fault.

It seems the DUmpster actually helps the big guy garner an audience.

So he needs to be grateful to us, not annoyed at us.

He doesn't mention CC...he gets zero responses.

We got your back, OS.

Okay, somebody give me some illumination about botany, here.

And having been born and raised in Nebraska, in theory I don't know a thing about trees.

Wouldn't the trunk of a tree standing in water all the time ultimately rot, bringing the whole thing crashing down?

<<<really don't know.

I suspect that's a pretty unfortunate analogy.

It's a very poor analogy. All it takes is a log chain, or a little dynamite, and the DUmmy's immovable tree is on its way to the toothpick factory.

Well now, what's odd about this unfortunate comment of hers is that some several months ago, CaliforniaPeggy and franksolich had a nice round of chitchattery on Discussionist, gracious and polite and all that.

I went away thinking rather highly of her after that; not of her politics, which suck, but of her good breeding and good manners.

Now I don't know what to think of her.
