I don't get it. If its about protecting animals then why are the laws on factory farming not tighter? I mean, millions of cows and chickens face a painfull life ended by a painful death every day. Why is the outrage not the same?

3. A: Because dogfighting is a cuddlytarian issue, eating meat isn't.
Being a cuddlytarian doesn't require one to change one's lifestyle to be consistent in their ethics, much like being opposed to kicking old ladies.

But I agree, dogfighting and eating meat are the exact same as far as moral outrages go.

107. Critical thought is one thing,
but proclaiming moral equivalence between dogfighting and eating meat is quite another.

a lot of back and forth in the thread.

I'll read it later.  Right now I'm eating a hot dog.  He put up a struggle, but I finally got him in the microwave.

OMG.  Do you really think there's any critical thought going on at DU, you loon?  You guys are screaming about dogfighting and meat eating as if they are big moral outrages, and yet if someone brings up a real moral outrage like the killing of unborn children, you idiots go bonkers and can't see the irony, so why don't you STFU?

I give this post an 8 out of 10 on the ReardenSteel Brain Hemorrhage scale.   :p

Eight being the number of brain hemmorrages needed to make this post make sense. (consumed in one hour)  :-)

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

LOL... One of these days, I hope there will be a PETA protest outside the KFC near my college.  I will have so much fun pushing my way past them and seeing how angry they get. :p

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
