Classical Individualism: The Supreme Importance of Each Human Being (1998) is Tibor R. Machen's seminal work on the philosophy of Classical (ethical) Individualism.
Classical Individualism is a rational, consistent philosophy of free will; by which each person relates to himself, family, friends, society, and finally government as a sovereign individual and moral agent. In other words, "I am responsible for who I am, and what I do; and my purpose in life is to be the best 'me' I can be."
Classical Individualism is a moral philosophy. The philosophy rejects collectivism (of all types) and subjective individualism (
a la Hobbes) with equal vigor.
