note from franksolich: this is the 2010 thread for primitive posts that stand alone. This has been separated from the prior thread of posts that stand alone (now non-stickied and locked in the DUmping Ground) so as to provide reference when the time comes to nominate, and vote upon, the Top Primitives of 2010. Carry on.

16. I stepped in cat shit earlier today.
When I looked at the clogged lugs in my shoe sole and saw the shit I was squicked.
That was a more pleasant reaction than that which I get for Jay Leno.
**** you, Jay.
That's what hanging in the basement with the cats will do, I suppose.

"Squicked" what's that?
It's one of the sparkling husband primitive's favorite metrosexual words.
The sparkling husband primitive, who's approaching his mid-60s, tries very hard to be hip, cool, trendy, with it--such as his silly usage of "teevee," reminding one very much of an older guy, thinning hair, leisure suit, slip-on shoes, maybe a bracelet or two.

I drove a porsche 911!
it belongs to a friend. AWD, it's the base 911 model from 2009. 345 or so horsepower.
Impression: friggin' awesome. It accelerates like a bat out of hell and the engine sounds are amazing. I cannot imagine why anyone would opt for the 500+ hp Turbo model for driving on public roads
Despite all this, $110,000 is a stupid amount of money to spend on a car (about $100k more than I ever could bring myself to do even given the means). And the seats were too narrow for my shoulders. Quote from the friend: "They have a great sales pitch set up. They just let you take one for a test drive."
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x9206166
The DUmmy thought it was a Porsche because it said "911" on the side. Actually, it was a police car.
Reminds me of TiTtyboy's famous test drive in a Tesla.
-

People like this are why Toyota makes Camrys and Corollas. If I had the means to buy a new Porsche 911, I'd have one. Hell, you can get a used one for 15-20k.

BushCo created the situation where the levees could fail and BushCo created the situation where Haiti couldn't respond to its own earthquake.
And now Bush is out raising money for a disaster he helped create. Oh, the humanity.
I'd follow Naomi Klein closely during this episode because this is as naked as disaster capitalism gets.

There have been reports about funny business going on, apparently the republicans are pulling a fast one. Its time to lawsuit the hell out of the republican party in Mass. and these lawsuits can take MONTHS to resolve, such as the Minnesota election.
Brown should not be seated for at least 6 months even if he does win.

This is another case of diddling with the symptoms. What needs to be done is to apply the Constitution as it is written.

Nowhere does it say anything about business of any kind having any right as people.

3. We need non-stigmatized, voluntary euthanasia for all who want it, worldwide.
Okay, hard truth time. If you were an impoverished Haitian without marketable skills other than physical labor, would you rather survive an amputation and lose your sole source of income, putting the stress of caring for you on your family--those who are still alive, anyway--knowing that neither you nor they can afford to pay for prosthetics and painkillers and other follow-up care; or would you rather choose a painless and certain death and spare yourself and your family the pain and difficulty? I know I would choose to be put down.
There are lives that reach a point of hopelessness, where the person has to be allowed to make the decision to cut their losses and go. It is not that these lives are without value--but whatever value they have is not enough to impel the world to spend resources to keep them alive or healthy. Please, let those of us who are in that position go peacefully and painlessly.

Ahh, I didn't see that you brought this post over when I brought the thread. It was too much for even some dummies. Notice at the beginning that she didn't say voluntary suicide, but voluntary euthanasia. In that case, who is doing the volunteering?
Decent people would look on that poor young man with the amputated leg and wonder if he will have a decent place to rest, enough food and hopefully later have at least crutches of some sort to get around on. Maybe one day he would get prosthetics so that he can rebuild his life. AG just saw him as consuming resources, resources that she wishes might have gone to her.
My mother, almost 74 years old, lost a leg and toes on the opposite foot to a relatively rare disease a few years ago. In spite of that, she got on with her life and didn't complain. She eventually got her prosthetic leg and she was off walking and helping everyone around her as if nothing happened. Recently, she developed an infection due to her prosthetic leg not fitting right anymore, so she has been relegated to a walker the last couple of months. She still gets around, cooks her own meals as well as always trying to feed us when we come around and does more for friends and family than any dummie would do in the prime of life and health.
I recall reading numerous posts about AG, her trials and tribulations at home and with her health. She hinted at suicidal thoughts before, and really poured it on for sympathy, but she's still here stinking up decent society with her "ideas." This really was one of the most disgusting posts I've seen to date on the dump.

You get more bang for your buck so to speak if you actually go out and create jobs by having the government being the spender of last resort. Classic Keynesian economics.
That's in part why the last stimulus was such a big bust, forty percent of it was taken up with tax breaks in Obama's vain effort to appear bipartisan.

11. The worst and perhaps scariest part is, to 99.5% of the American Subject Populace, WE are the fools.
I have often said that our nation is very much in a similar position to 1933 Germany, psychologically, politically, etc. Many, and perhaps you would agree,e believe this to be hyperbole, BUT...
Our National Dialog is as corrupted and upside-down as 1933 Germany, lies are seen as true and the truth can't even be heard above the cacophonous carnival of nonsense that passes for "news".
At least 1/3rd of our populace is as steeped in absolutism, illogic, misinformation and disinformation as 1933 Germans were. The rest just go along to get along and believe what comes out of their TVs.
The Nazis would have just been another crackpot fringe group, until Fritz Thyssen and the German Industrialists backed them. A similar effect can be seen in the mainstreaming of KKK-speech and "conventional wisdom".
Just like in 1933 with the German Social Democrats, our Democrats are either clueless, bullied or bought-off, maybe some combination of the three. As I mentioned above, the whys don't matter, only what IS.
There's more, much more, but you get my drift. This nation is a VERY dangerous place for freedom-loving people just as 1933 Germany was.
Because a nation who's mind and soul is so thoroughly corrupted with absurdities, to paraphrase Voltaire, is capable of committing the most monstrous atrocities imaginable.
I suppose we can be thankful the Nazis spoiled the "concentration camp the liberals" brand-name and it has taken the Bushies so long to make an end-run around it with regard to remarketing and rebranding some very discredited ideas.
But our future, clearly (long, long VERY LONG odds that it will not come to pass within this century, and perhaps much sooner) is something horrific, brewing in our National Mind and Soul right now.
We already resemble in many ways a 1950s dystopian sci-fi novel. (Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, many others, take your pick)
And we don't have so far to fall anymore. We don't have a whole lot further to transition into whatever nightmare our "American Industrialists" have in store for us their Final Solution.
Larger and larger portions of our nation are now fully psychologically prepared to murder millions of their fellow-citizens, so long as the marketing is right and the government is behind them.
May God Help us all, but most of all those poor young people right now who will have to live in the dystopian future that has already got it's tendrils sunk deep into our nation.

She lives in Kansas City, Kansas, but teaches in Kansas City, Missouri.
The greenbriar primitive teaches in a school in another part of Kansas, in Wichita, down near the center and bottom of that state.
I know; it's hard to keep the primitives straight, as I myself have mixed them up too many times to count.

Why is Obama so obsessed with what Republicans think? Perhaps because of racism?
Edited on Sat Feb-27-10 12:22 PM by c brand
It seems that Obama had a history of going out of his way to compromise and appease the white establishment, and now the Republicans. It is almost a pathological need. Is it because of his racial background and identity crisis?
A clue to this is how he went way out of his way to make amends with the Cambridge white cop. White cops are good guys to (most of) white America. And Republicans love white cops. So Obama had to make a big statement to appease whites. But by doing so he really debased himself.
His problem is not financial. He's set for life no matter what he does. His pursuit of approval from Republicans - who are 99.99% white - may have deeper psychological roots. The prep school, the Ivy League degrees. There is still that "affirmative-action" taint, maybe? Or is it because to him blacks and white liberals are a given - easy picking, low-hanging fruit if you will - and Republicans are what he needs to conquer in order to validate himself???
It's clear that contrary to what he says and denies, his actions reveal a disregard and contempt for progressive people, a neglect of the everyday needs of his working-class black constituents, and a pathological obsession with whatever little approval (white) Republicans might give him.

10. EVIL is the best word to describe conservatives.
I often wonder what happened to them as children or through life to be so hateful and greedy. It's like they are void of all compassion or empathy for anyone. They all worship corporations and power, and always side with the rich and powerful over the weak and vulnerable. They all claim to be 'Christians', but they are all fakes. The person they 'say' they worship would condemn every one of their evil actions. And if Jesus was pulled off the cross just before he died 'Christian' conservatives would stand around and watch him die without helping because they would condemn him as a deadbeat and a loser for not having health insurance. The best word to describe them is EVIL.

6. That isn't even entirely true from an economics standpoint. There are limits on the burger as well.
Edited on Sat Jul-17-10 01:12 PM by BzaDem
If they just raise the price of the "burger" to make up for something else, eventually the price of the burger will be higher than many people are willing to pay (necessitating a drop in the burger price).
In general, there are limits to how much of an excise tax or a regulatory expense can actually be passed onto customers. The more elastic the demand (i.e. the more customers are willing to just not buy the product at higher prices), the less of the tax/regulatory cost they can pass on to customers. The less elastic the demand (i.e. if customers are willing to buy the product at any price), the more of the tax/cost they can pass on.
In this case, the much of the regulatory cost of the bill primarily affects big banks. (This is the point -- we need to tax "bigness" to reduce the incentive for banks to become so big.) So if big banks start charging for checking accounts, people will move to smaller banks -- necessitating a lowering of the cost of checking accounts even at the big banks. In other words, demand for big-bank checking accounts is highly elastic.
Dear DUmmie, Would you please come explain to us knuckledraggers just how a business runs without passing the cost/taxes along to the consumer? Please??

6. Drugs should not ONLY be legalized, but
they should be brought into this country by our government, assured of their potency and purity by our government and then handed out for free, to those over 18 who want them. All this would cost a tiny fraction of what we're paying to try and stop the stuff!
OVERNIGHT - the killing would stop at the borders, the cops would find other things to do with their time (including dipping their fingers in the trade), domestic gangs would stop fighting over turf here, and settle into delerium by using all of their supply that they'd be stuck with, AND.... we'd be one giant step towards eliminating the "dumb" gene from our pool.

Mark Wahlberg considers legal action against San Diego Aquarium after giant octopus attacks his son

Mark Wahlberg's Son Attacked By 'Giant' Octopus
August 6th, 2010 11:19am EDT post comment Post a comment favorite Add to My News
Mark Wahlberg is considering taking legal action against bosses of a public aquarium in San Diego, California, after a "giant" captive octopus attacked his son.
The Hollywood actor and his model wife Rhea Durham were on family holiday with their four kids, but the trip took a frightening turn at the Sea Life Aquarium in Carlsbad - when an aggressive sea creature latched on to Durham, their four-year old son Michael, and the family's tour guide. Wahlberg recalled the incident during an interview on David Letterman's late night TV show on Thursday.
He said: "We have a tour guide so she's like, 'You have a special treat today, we'll be able to take you behind the tank and you'll be able to see the octopus...' So this women pulls out this gigantic octopus, the thing latches on to my son's arm. It's got my wife, (it's) wrapped completely around the lady, and another guy's just standing there. They can't get this octopus off. My son is freaking out but no sound is coming out of his mouth. So finally we rip the thing off of him. He's got all these suction marks that look like about 30 little hickeys (bruises). The lady can't get out, she's yelling for help... He (the aquarium manager) said it's never been that aggressive."
However, as the audience laughed at Wahlberg's dramatic storytelling, Letterman urged the actor to take legal action - and the star admitted he may soon be filing suit.
He said: "We haven't filed yet but if you could recommend a good lawyer... Once the woman who handles the octopus starts freaking out I knew there was a problem. She couldn't even get away from the thing. She had to have help come running in. Once I got my kid out of there I said, 'Let's go!' I left the lady there. That's her problem."

I'm a fan of the Arcade Fire, and I find that their latest record makes me burst into tears uncontrollably, so much so that I am embarrassed for anyone to be around when I listen to it. I don't remember ever having such an experience from art, not so reliably and repeatably. So, it makes me wonder whether it's me or not. My reaction is very intense, some sort of mixture of rapture and sadness.
I'm not trying to trivialize (or "pop-culturize") your question, really. I'm 54, and so this is not just a fan experience. It might be me, or it might be an evolutionary thing - perhaps they're indigos, and so this is the leading edge indigo art. Some of their other stuff has a similar effect on me, but it's more specific song oriented.
Just trying to share. My heart's felt bare since the 2000 election.

Electric utility trucks from as far away as Michigan rolled into Massachusetts today, ahead of Earl.
Yeah, they're from a for profit company going to the aid of a for profit company, but mutual aid agreements are, in fact, socialistic.

Yet another gawdawful story
Couple charged with making porn video of toddler
Thursday, September 30, 2010
(09-30) 05:37 PDT Fresno, Calif. (AP) --
Federal prosecutors say a California couple shot a sex video of a toddler they were babysitting while the 2-year-old's mother was out getting a tattoo.
Federal prosecutor Brian Enos says 27-year-old Terry Lee Schneider II and his 29-year-old wife Nicole Jean Schneider are charged with producing child pornography.
Federal magistrate Gary Austin on Wednesday ordered the couple held in jail as a danger to society.
The Fresno Bee says a friend found a camcorder in a bedroom the Schneiders had used earlier this year. The woman viewed the video and notified the FBI.
Yuck and terrible. But, here's the post that stands alone:

On December 10, 1990, Sanchez struck a drunken pedestrian, Jeffrey Smuzinick, with his car on a residential street near Dolphin Stadium, then known as Joe Robbie Stadium, and left the scene, returning two hours later.<3> Smuzinick was paralyzed and eventually died in an assisted living facility on November 2, 1995.<1><3> Sanchez had just left an NFL football game with his father when the accident occurred, and a police breathalyzer exam determined that Sanchez' own blood alcohol level was above the legal limit for driving. He was not charged with causing the accident, but was charged with and pleaded no contest to DUI.<3>

When did the world go to hell?
Two possible picks to get the ball rolling...
1914 - Socialism is unable to prevent WWI. The theory that class could be more important than nationality was undone as workers from across Europe took up arms against other workers as expressions of aristocratic will.
1980 - Ronald Reagan elected, ending the progress in all things that made the 1945-1980 period an accelerated leap forward for almost all Americans.
Well, DUmmie, you now have a socialist in the White House, how is that working out?

He was on BillO's show last night moaning and whining about how unfair NPR is. It's the War On Williams! I heard him being defended (on NPR) by Gingrich, Huckabee, and of course $arah - all of whom work for Fox "News"!
Williams should thank NPR for allowing him to play the familiar right-wing role of poor, pathetic, helpless victim. This seems to be the one thing that all conservatives do and that always works with their base, though I'm not really sure why. What is so appealing about a bunch of squalling crybabies screeching "it's not fair!" like they were schoolchildren at recess?

And toll roads! CA doesn't have toll roads.
And they reassess your home every year in TX so they can gouge you for more taxes if the value increases. Sometimes people are taxed right out of their homes.
In CA your taxes stay the same as when you bought the home and they only reassess when improvements are made.
Even with double the property taxes we are also required to buy a boatload of school supplies for our kids every year. In CA school supplies were provided by the schools.
When I moved to TX from CA I thought it was great that there was no state tax. But I pay more in property taxes here than I would pay for state tax in CA.

Seriously, what is a parent of young children thinking when they voluntarily decide to sign up for a job that will take them away on dangerous foreign missions while their families are left behind to spend every day worrying about their absent loved one?
And what are we as a society thinking when we make an effort to target for recruitment people who are parents of young children for service in our unending stream of aggressive occupations and shooting wars?
I don't know what others call it when someone leaves their children to worry every hour of every day about whether their parent will survive the day, but I know what I call it: it's a form of child abuse.

If you are earning a 30-80 thousand dollar annual income and pay a marginal income tax rate of 25%, your $4000.00 monthly mortgage payment to the bank nets you $1000 per month in tax savings....an amount someone has to make up to keep those bombs falling. That bank wouldn't even consider giving you that loan if your income wasn't 3.5 times that $4000/mo payment. I believe most home buyers are buying houses which cost enough to rely on the deduction to justify the loan. If that isn't socialism, I don't know what is.

This is nothing but a faint echo of the the very real freedoms to secure communications that were lost because America did nothing to bring accountability for the deaths of 3,000 people that day and the million or so who died unnecessarily thereafter in the GWOT.

Not only is he a true American hero, crusader and all around good guy he's apparently limber enough pat himself on the shoulder while engaging in self-fellatio.

To borrow a phrase; cags your ignorant slut.
If I make $5,000,000/year in CA and live in a $2,000,000 house how much in income/property tax would I pay?
If I make $5,000,000/year in TX and live in a $2,000,000 house much in property tax would I pay?
Now, it doesn't matter what that number is. Really. Because I can earn ALL I WANT in Texas and not pay a single dime in state income tax. I can then choose to live in a hovel and save $$$$. It is my choice. Not the states.
Just my take on it though.

WTF!!??! Am I related to a DUmmy!?!? NOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

3. Golly. I, for one, hope it WILL cripple the military...
Maybe it will cripple the military so much, disgusted conservative lawmakers will insist upon defunding it 70% to get it where it really should be in comparison to other countries like Russia or China...
Of course that won't happen, but if DADT does turn the military into some quasi social laboratory, at least they won't be using *those* resources to try and figure out how to keep us in a perpetual state of war...

That has always been the goal of the left. Cripple the military, leave the country defenseless. It won't happen DUmmies. This repeal of DADT could be a God-Send for conservatives. If the faggots turn out to be to disruptive to an effective military, we won't go back to DADT. We'll go back to the outright ban on Gheys in the military.
