I know most of you don't care about this...
but I do want to wish Prince William and Kate, many congratulations on the birth of their son.

I'm impressed that they survived the notorious NHS system over there. Other than that, celebrities in general don't impress me.

The happy couple was at a private hospital, part of the two-tier system that will soon come to the US.

It's going to be very odd, not that there's any sign of her going away at the moment.

A thought occurred to me last night, it's possible that I won't live to see this new one as King. I'm about the same age as the Duke of Cambridge, and so assuming normal life-expectancies the new H.R.H. will become H.M. about the same time as I go to my eternal reward...says something about the permanence of the monarchy.

The presence of that "Monarchy" that you so casually dismiss, brings in a lot of tourist revenue....

I know he is, and I realize that the tourism revenue doesn't affect them. If they have issues with the Canadian dollar having a picture of the queen, maybe the Canadians should vote in a new look of currency.

I think making a change like that would essentially divorce the two countries from one another. Not sure that's even desired, except perhaps among the more rabid. Is it just me but I see the wicked sense of humor of William and Harry to have roped in Kate and the Queen in one huge practical joke on the world.

So these crazy kids convince the Queen,  Kate is pregnant with a girl.   Grandma the Queen is convinced laws and traditions  have to be changed so first born if a girl can rule over a younger brother.

Good move, we all take it for granted the baby will be a girl.   What fun, Kate is seen shopping for baby girls layette, Actually insures she gives people the idea she slipped and when speaking to a young child all most says her Dau--------

What would just be a ho-hum pregnancy watch has now gone wild.  What a British sense of humor, sort of like when the Boys changed The answering phone of the Queen to record a message that was hilarious, darn near gave the Queens secretary a heart attack  The Queen it is said was brought to tears of laughter wondering who in Government may have heard the message.

Anyone that has ever seen Benny Hill or the other British comedy knows the Brits are masters of Comedy, the double innuendo, sort of like May West that was loved by both men and woman of all ages.

So the announcement it was a BOY came as a surprise to most of us expecting a Girl.

Compare this to when the last first Lady, Jackie -O was pregnant.   Her baby died after birth but for the poor woman this was a non event.   To her husband a non event, then she was criticized for going off with her sister for a few weeks to recover.

Anyone remember what that Kennedy baby was named ??????

but that's the thing, Prince William and Kate are not "celebrities". they are part of a family. IMO, a celebrity is one who is well known in the entertainment industry, not always liked however...

What, precisely, have William and Kate done to deserve the media attention they've garnered?

Unless they've developed the cure for cancer (or even better, the insanity known as progressivism), a powerplant fueled by bullshit from politicians, or discovered a species of wheat that produces a pound of refined flour for every stalk and thus solved world hunger forever, the media is hounding them solely because they're celebrities.

No "real family" would garner the worldwide fawning of billions of mind-numbed idiots for something as simple as a baby being born, ergo this is celebrity worship, and grates on my last good nerve.

I don't believe they asked for the media attention they are getting. If you remember, that Lady Diana, wanted to keep their family lives private, and she died in spite of that. I still think Camilla had something to do with that, IMO. Why does the media push this royal family into the spotlight and not others?

I don't care that they may not have ASKED for the media attention, and when you get down to it, my rant isn't against them so much as it is against the harpies in the media shilling this pablum, and the mind-numbed idiots who are consuming it by the super-tanker load.

Well as we know from the Zimmerman case one does not always have a choice with the media attention they receive. As the daughter of a Brit, I find it interesting to have such a visual cultural link to my past. In some ways I are then as the preservers of tradition and culture I suppose. It's human interest like looking at pictures of ones family from 100 years earlier and learning the traditions that came with. My grandparents were more proper and formal like the queen so for me too it reminds me of them to see her and how she carries herself and behaves. :(

Also think of this: he will be the king to commemorate and take part in the festivities surrounding the 1000th anniversary of Hastings. That alone says something about the monarchy and the country as a whole.

I, am not obsessed with them, I don't have any  pics of them all over my apt, as I feel obsessions like that are not healthy. I like to think that Lady Diana must be so proud of her sons, they have grown to be very fine gentlemen.

Exactly!

Even though the coverage was ridiculously long.... it's back on again now - guess it's time for Baby Prince to go home....  :whatever:.... it still is the birth of a healthy baby... to a couple who appear to be extremely happy and in love....who just happens to be the future King of England.

Regardless of how anyone feels about England's monarchy.... it was a pleasant change from all the "poor, poor Trayvon Martin - mean murdering George Zimmerman" BS.

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....
