Couple: County Trying To Stop Home Bible Studies

SAN DIEGO -- A local pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a San Diego County official, who then threatened them with escalating fines if they continued to hold bible studies in their home, 10News reported.

Attorney Dean Broyles of The Western Center For Law & Policy was shocked with what happened to the pastor and his wife.

Broyles said, "The county asked, 'Do you have a regular meeting in your home?' She said, 'Yes.' 'Do you say amen?' 'Yes.' 'Do you pray?' 'Yes.' 'Do you say praise the Lord?' 'Yes.'"

The county employee notified the couple that the small bible study, with an average of 15 people attending, was in violation of county regulations, according to Broyles.

Broyles said a few days later the couple received a written warning that listed "unlawful use of land" and told them to "stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit" -- a process that could cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Just tell the idiots you'll be applying the same regulation to Obama's re-election house parties and see how quickly this whole thing falls down the memory hole.

Look on the bright side....a DUmmie has landed a government job.......Now, to straighten his ass out.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

They should start meeting in some local park or in the lobby of the county office building, or some similar place where people have a right to free assembly.

Boy Scout/Girl Scout meetings? No permit.
Tupperware party? No Permit.
Weekly Parties with loud music? No Permit.
Weekly poker game? No Permit.
Invite your friends over for a Bible study? Permits and environmental impact studies needed. cost: tens of thousands of dollars.

Welcome to govt sponsored discrimination. Liberals fear and hate people of faith.

Note the specific questions. There is no freaking way the county should be asking these kinds of questions. But they did.
I can guarantee you, the county would not have bothered a gathering of muslims.

This is a trial balloon. If it floats, it will set a precedent for the rest of the country. This could be far more serious than people think.
The implications are dramatic. This nullifies the right to freedom of assembly, and placed restrictions on the freedom of worship to public locations that can be monitored and pay tens of thousands for the right. With the hate crime bill, what is said in those approved locations can be regulated as well.

Liberal policy of total control. Welcome to Obamanation.

and don't think for a minute this will be limited to Christians. Regulating the freedom of assembly is a wonderful tool to stop people like the Minute Men, patriot groups, free militias, and every grass roots political effort that opposes Obama.

I remember not being allowed to use a meeting room at the library... I bet NAMBLA could have used it

Do those "dark gods", superficially resemble something out of an H.P. Lovecraft nightmare, only with bunny ears and whiskers in place of tentacles?

...and then they could have the room to themselves permanently.  No one would want to enter that room afterward.  :puke:

County won't force permit on Bible study leaders.

Code officer formally warned couple over meetings at home
Sweeping issues of religious freedom and governmental regulation are swirling around Pastor David Jones' house in rural Bonita, attracting attention from as far away as China and New Zealand.

He says it all started with $220 in car damage.

Jones and his wife, Mary, hold a weekly Bible study at their home that sometimes attracts more than 20 people, with occasional parking issues. Once, a car belonging to a neighbor's visitor got dinged.
David Jones paid for the damage, but he thinks the incident spurred a complaint to the county.

A code enforcement officer warned the couple in April for holding a “religious assembly” without a permit. The action became an international incident when it was reported last week on the Web site worldnetdaily.com.

The Joneses assert that the county's action violates their rights under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion. Their story was picked up by conservative Web sites for days, then made it to CNN yesterday.

The code enforcement officer will probably get a promotion.    And Jones has got the attention of the county.  They will be back.   Often.

I'm waiting for the ReichsMessiah to mandate that all ünter menchen are to wear the yellow cross upon their outermost garment whenever they happen to leave their homes.  After the death of ReichsMartyr "Killer" Tiller at the hands of a reactionary, right wing fundie counter-revolutionary, it cannot be long now.
