primitives tired of spam

Anyone else getting flooded with money requesting emails over the past few weeks?

This is really pretty unprecedented - they wind up in my various Google email folders - the updates, social and primary tabs - I've gotten them from president Obama, Biden, you name it - dozens and dozens of them. I don't remember an email wave of $$ requests like this so far in either of PO's terms...

Quote from:

1. I get them constantly.

And delete them unopened, since I'm unemployed and below the poverty line.

Quote from:
rurallib

2. been going on for years for me

I delete them and unsubscribe from them and it seems to generate more.
Plus the phone calls from all sorts of charities.

I have limited my donations to local candidates, FreeSpeechTV, and planned Parenthood. All others take a hike. When I get a call, I tell them that up front and give them a chance to hang up graciously before I drop the call.

Quote from:
greatauntoftriplets

3. I've been getting 8 - 10 a day, including the Democratic candidate for IL governor.

Just don't have the money anymore.

Quote from:
Bluenorthwest

4. It is constant, and they seem to have no idea how damaging that crap is to our chances

The message is 'it is all about money, if you give us some you count, if you don't offer up a few thousand you do not exist and might as well not vote.'

For them, it is about money, that is all any of them care about.

Quote from:
clydefrand

5. I'm getting many a day, including from many 'out of state' democrats. Also, many phone calls as well.

Quote from:
Xyzse

6. It is getting annoying.

I just ignore them now. I was considering blocking them as spam.

Quote from:
stevenleser

7. Wrote Facebook and Twitter posts criticizing them just a day or two ago. It's too much and the wording is silly and the attempts to make it seem personalized are pedantic.

Quote from:
Xyzse

13. Agreed, and now they are trying the guilt tripping in it too.

Where they are saying "You missed 3 emails". You got emailed this many times and no replies, from these esteemed personages.

It makes me feel like they have a lot of nerve.

Quote from:
RockaFowler

18. Those are the ones I'm getting now

I can't delete these fast enough

So annoying

Quote from:
Xyzse

19. Yep, especially since I tend to not trust emails asking for money.

I always have to go to the site directly, if I want to contribute.

Quote from:
TBF

8. I've been unsubscribing to each as they come in -

it's been constant. I can find Wendy Davis' page when I have extra money to give to a politician.

Quote from:
Eleanors38

9. I'll GLADLY accept money in exchange for an e-mail!

Unfortunately, it's the other way around.

Quote from:
Orsino

10. It's Citizens United's world.

We just rent it.

Quote from:
groundloop

11. I've got mixed feelings about this (and yes, I've been getting them also)

On the one hand, yes, it's annoying and I generally just delete them. On the other hand I understand that it takes a lot of money to win elections (especially after Citizens United), and that Democratic candidates need donations from a large number of people to counter even a few GOPers with very deep pockets (Kochs, Rove, Adelson, etc.).

Quote from:
Atman

12. I set up filters, but then they just send under different names.

It's not new. I've donated to the DCCC and Democratic Party a few times, so I'm on the "hot list." Probably MOST of my e-mail each day is from some Dem I've never heard of (and many I have heard of) saying "GLOOM AND DOOM! WE'RE DOOMED! AMERICA IS OVER UNLESS YOU SEND $3 IN THE NEXT TEN MINUTES! OOOOHHHH, THE HORROR!" They're ridiculous. Basic marketing used to be that a 2% return on a mailing was a great response. I think now they just hope for a .2% return, so they send out a bazillion ads every day to everybody. I just delete them...it's not even worth the time to set up new filters anymore.

Quote from:
bemildred

14. It's bizarre.

Quote from:

15. Kick for visibility.

I am 100% sure various Democratic party and candidate operatives scan DU. I hope they see this.

Quote from:
AndreaCG

16. It's the end of the month

All the candidates ratchet up their demands because the last day of the month is when they tabulate what they've gotten for the FEC. it's annoying but easy enough to delete them till you're ready to give if you choose to do so.

Quote from:
NRaleighLiberal

17. Understood - but this is unprecedented - many per day, for weeks!

Quote from:
Xyzse

20. I am about to unsubscribe from them.

Hovering on the unsubscribe button with the reason:

Because your emails have gotten far more frequent and in many ways insulting and obnoxious. The message is always only about money and how bad things are if I don't contribute. The doom and gloom is a bit disgusting and makes me just delete things. If I want to donate, I will donate directly by going to the website.

I will give it another day to think about.

Quote from:
JI7

21. there are elections coming up this year

Quote from:
Blue_In_AK

22. They never let up on me.

Everybody knows us retired folks have money to give to EVERY cause, don'tcha know? I don't answer my phone unless I recognize the number, and every morning I automatically delete about 15 emails.

Quote from:
sadoldgirl

23. Just keep deleting them

as I do, although it is a waste of time. If they keep doing this, they will annoy people so much that they may lose votes.

The Dem party knows to keep hammering suckers when they have them hooked.

Interesting comments, though. This might be one of the few times the primitives are being honest.

I had to share my favorite headline from a couple days ago:

What is hilarious is that SO MANY of the DUllards are unsubscribing.

You know what unsubscribing tells a SPAMmer ?

It tells them that the Email address that just unsubscribed is valid & actively used. So,you might not get any EMail from 'Mike's Plumbing' anymore - but you will from the dozens of other companies the SPAM agent works for. Good job, DUmbasses.

Sure, why not ? You remember Obama's first broken promise, right ?  -The one where he & McCain agreed to only use public financing. Obama then started taking those 'Fat Checks' where McCain kept to his word - and in the end, McCain was outspent five-to-one. Even the leftist Factcheck.org reports this as true, but they then downplay it by tossing RNC spending into the mix.    http://www.factcheck.org/2008/11/advertising-money-mccain-vs-obama/

Wonder if the muzzies in the middle east that donated to Obama's campaign get the same spam?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
