Taverner pats himself on the back

From Skin's Jr island:

Quote from:

What do you think of people who are obviously highly intelligent/educated yet don't have much money?

I know a few people like that out here in real life, erudite on a large number of subjects, intelligent, witty and lots of other positive character traits but they never connected with the big bucks. Then maybe something happened, they got sick or a divorce or some other negative life circumstance and now they are leading a hand to mouth existence. I helped one such person not long ago and it really got me to thinking about why people who obviously have a lot on the ball go without the financial rewards that are supposed to come to the smart.

Bear in mind that Nikola Tesla was a towering genius responsible almost single handedly for the technology of much of our modern power grid and yet he died alone and a pauper.

21. It sucks. That's how I feel

But the tide is turning for me

Let's hope I don't **** it up

 :rotf: :lmao: :rotf:

Mark views himself as being "obviously highly intelligent/educated"!!

 :rotf: :lmao: :rotf:

Really, you can't make this stuff up and be any more funny.

Just for funsies:

35. think of?? Shit, I *am* such a person.

Haven't invented anything like Tesla though.

Have no idea who this dolt is, but he's some Malloy fan.  :mental:

Oh man, the things they try to convince themselves they are as opposed to how the story of their life proves they are.

But I have to admit, I'm glad Tavs is posting somewhere again. Comedy gold.

Why do DUmmies assume one is the same as the other?  There are plenty of people who spent too much time in a classroom that don't have two nickels to rub together and we've all heard their sob stories.

You could be the smartest person in the world Tav but the choices you willingly make will guarantee you die (hopefully soon) penniless.

Why on Earth would a highly-intelligent, or highly-talented and creative, person hang out with all the losers posing as the World's smarterest pimples on DU?  I'll grant that some of them might be 'Educated,' albeit in some useless liberal arts field with a meaningless piece of paper to show for it.

Personally, I don't judge people by how much money they have, it is not an end that everyone chooses to pursue.  Nor does high or low intelligence necessarily have anything to do with whether a person is an asshole.

When did Mark start calling himself "Jason"?

I guess junkies have all kinds of hallucinations.

I don't know, he is morphing from Mark to Jason and from Kregel to Taverner. When I was over at DU jr, he was posting like a fiend, and incoherent most of the time. His profile says he's anarchist and a socialist. He's high again.

All part of "the good side of heroin."

My town has had four 20-somethings die of heroin ODs this year.  In the suburbs.  I'm talking to my daughter about drugs now at her age.  I want to get it in her head that there's nothing that she can put into her body that will make her feel any better than if she put nothing into her body . . . I'm rambling a tad here, but I'm having 'The Talk' about drugs now.  It's not too late to start, IMO.

I work full time but also have a part time job. The full time workers (at my PT job) are mainly young and for them it's a good job, pay is good and hours great. One of the younger workers OD'd on heroin within the last year. Not totally unexpected but still a shock because this person had a family support system and due to the nature of the work could see the negatives of drug abuse first hand prior to getting personally involved.

An anarchist and a socialist.

Question of the day: Is his cognitive dissonance the result of his heroin abuse, or the cause?

Or is he just an imbecile moonbat, independent of his heroin habit?

Maybe I can get a grant from the National Institute of Health to answer these important questions. After all, the government will give grants to study duck sex and cow farts, so the cerebellar function of the proglodyte should be a given.
