Went to the hospital to have the angiogram finally. The Doc said that there was too much blockage to do an angioplasty or stents. My only option is to have a multiple coronary bypass surgery. HOWEVER, my kidneys aren't working very well, apparently. SO.... I need to go see the kidney Doc before I can have the bypass surgery. Anyways, as I can, I'll keep y'all posted.

Holy shit. Are you going to be okay? How much does Tricare cover? :(
I don't care how fancy and "new" medicine is, sometimes it still feels like they're taking hatchets and rusty knives to you.
-
Good luck, bud. Hope they don't say "dialysis"...
-
Good luck man, I know this has to be a trying time for you and your family and friends. Stay positive, you are going to be alright!
-
Tricare covers quite a bit after the $3000 catastrophic cap, like 100%. (It should be $1500 for me, but that's a different story.) That's not really my biggest concern.
-
Oh Thor how scary this must be - you are in my prayers.
-
Praying for you!
-
I too will keep you in my prayers. I thought I had detected an absence of your posts. Rest and get well.
-
Wow Thor, I am so sorry. :(
-
Damn, man.
I hope to God all is less than what's thought to be needed.
-
You're in our prayers, Thor. Keep us posted!
-
Prayers out. Good luck.

Thor will be perfectly fine. Why? Because assholes are forever. :fuelfire: :-)
Seriously, prayers extended and, I'm sure, received. :cheersmate:

My RN-ICU wife says this isn't an abnormal event. It's because the dyes they use to view things can affect the kidneys. So a renal exam is often necessary.

Oh no, Thor. I am so sorry. You have support, family, friends? I am so sorry the news is so bad.

Just one friend here, locally. (close enough as to whom they would actually come over & take care of me.) Kind of sucks. My daughter's working & going to school, so I can't interrupt that.

Where you at?

Prayers from us as well.......bear in mind that bypass surgery might be frightening up front, but it's gotten to the point where it's a relatively routine procedure, with an astounding success rate. We've had four friends that have had this surgery, and to a man, they all state that afterward they feel better than they have in decades.
It typically takes a couple of months of rehab and physical therapy post-op, but afterward, you'll be a new man....

Sorry to hear this. Good luck with it all.
Prayers sent your way.

Now that's an interesting idea. But I'm gonna bitchslap you anyway, because NOBODY deserves that special brand of hell, even a Navy airedale.

On the contrary. I think it would kill him. Or make him want to slit his wrists, whichever is more painful.

Thor so sorry to hear about your health problems. Believe me, we can understand what you're going through. It's tough to be somewhere with little support. Down in Florida, we have no family but were lucky to have some neighbors who were life savers in terms of support. It's amazing since we've only been here 18 months.
You're in my prayers. Hope you get a clean bill of health with the kidneys, so they can take care of the heart problems.

I'll bet that Vesta is a real sweetie in person. Thanks, but no thanks!!! However, there IS this cute little blonde in Kentucky that I wouldn't mind coming down & taking care of me. ;)

Went to the kidney Doc today. He's taken me off of one antibiotic because it's known to cause kidney problems. He's cleared me for surgery. I have an appt with the heart surgeon on Valentine's Day. I will know more after that. I'm pretty sure that they won't wait very long from there. So, I think I'm looking at late Feb, maybe early March.

I wonder WHICH piece you're referring to, Gina? :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Take it as a good sign that they aren't speed processing you for the procedure.
By pass surgery is another of Modern medicine miracles. Only in extreme cases will they perform such surgeries if any of the backup systems, lungs , kidneys , liver etc. are in doubt.
My father had quadruple bypass and they held him over because the part of his leg they took a vein from wasn't healing properly. Dr. told us that was the most common cause of holding bypass patients beyond normal time for such a procedure.
It's funny we piss n moan and bitch and complain about Drs. from time to time. Almost as if we expect them to be gods. Thing is with the things they can do nowadays they pert near are.
