Democrats cannot defeat this threat alone.
Republicans must wake up and take a stand. Otherwise, the democracy we have known for our entire lives will be changed forever. What will replace it?
Will it be a fascist government, completely controlled by corporate interests? Or will it be a dictatorship with most of the rewards going to the dictator at the top? Or will it be something more Third World and militaristic?
I will admit, that may be a nihilistic view.
But, our system was not meant to operate with only half the population, or less, involved in defending and protecting our values and institutions. Perhaps this is the natural evolution of democracies?
One thing is for certain, it is going to be a very rough road if Republicans remain allied with those presently in power. Their intent is to destroy our democracy. They are a destructive force in our country.
Perhaps it is time for Democrats to begin looking at other options? Also, I will confess, I have no idea what those might be?

I will say that if we can make it thru the next election, we still have a chance to save a remnant of our former government.

They have odd interpretations of things. I’ve never heard of a fascist or a dictator removing regulations from businesses so they can flourish and I’ve damn sure never heard of one giving tax cuts to the people.

Yeah, well, Rs and conservatives see Trump as beneficial to America, so our "stand" will be voting Trump in for a second term and voting out as many of Pelosi's Clown Car Passengers as possible.
Maybe the Ds should bring in the Russians, again!

I'm pretty certain that no liberal knows what a fascist or fascism really is. The more I read about their concepts of fascism the more I realize that they are clueless. It's just a word to them that implies something bad but do not know what that bad thing is.

I'm sick of hearing the left blathering on about how President Trump is killing the democratic process in America when it is becoming more evident with every passing day that the democrat party and the obama administration weaponized various government agencies to try to affect the outcome of the 2016 election.

What gets me is they think republicans will suddenly endorse their candidates and embrace lefty madness.

That would be the 8 years of MAObama, making deals with Global Corporations, using Crony Capitalism, i.e. Corporate Fascism, to give America high unemployment, the elimination of jobs for the lower-classes, to promote pessimism ("Those jobs are never coming back"), to limit economic growth to 1%, and most of all to teach AmeriKKKa a lesson by it making it the 37th best country on the planet.
My wife and I have been distributing “food to the poor” for some years. (The ironic quotation marks are used to indicate that in many cases the poverty is self-inflicted: they have plenty of money for multiple tattoos, piercings, thousands of cancer sticks, and all kinds of other Dumb Stuff.)
In the past 6 months, the number of people calling for a food delivery has dropped. We usually have made 6 deliveries per month, and since last autumn it has fallen to 3.
At a meeting the director was wondering why so many had stopped calling. I dared to suggest (because most of them are DEMS) that it was the Trump Economy and the return of lower-skilled jobs for which our clientele would qualify.
An icy silence followed, but I believe it is no coincidence: NOW HIRING signs are nearly on every other street corner or on 2 out 3 of businesses. Truck driver, warehouse work, assembler, fork-lift operator, etc. etc. etc.
The Leftists today must be like the robots in science fiction which are programmed not to hurt human beings, and then break down into static when ordered to shoot somebody!
I imagine a good number of Leftist brains are rumbling with static: “The facts show that free-market capitalism is working. and that Trump was right! But Trump can’t be right, because Obama said free-market capitalism was over and done with! But the facts show that…etc. ad infinitum”

Correct me if I am wrong, but, didn't this same group bemoan the fact that the 22nd amendment prevented the first Hafrican American from a third term? And, wasn't that because a previous Democratic President, who implemented all manner of socialist tripe, attempted to pack the court, ran for [and in fact was elected to] an unprecedented four terms?
They would have declared either FDR or the Hafrican dictator for life and never given it a second thought. But then, thoughtfulness isn't really a DUmmy trait. :popcorn:

I'm afraid it has finally sunk in.
That I live in a country where a solid 35% (and often more) don't share my values, the values I thought were "American" values. The values I learned in school when I learned "Give me your tired, your poor..." The values that made me proude when I travelled abroad. It's not just those at the bottom of the economic ladder, or threatened with being shoved there. It's the people at the top that don't just disagree with me about the role of government (like our Republican friends who spent oodles of time and money on good deeds), but the masses at the top that seem like characters from a bad movie.
It's been slow coming, my evolution from disbelief to belief. I think the thing that finally tipped me all the way over was hearing about the taxi driver who asked my son how he liked this great economy. A small thing, but it tipped me.
Did any of the rest of you have to evolve to this point of understanding? Do any of the rest of you still not quite believe it?

Point of fact. These are all goals of the democrat party. The democrat party got a good 80% there from 2009-2017 but couldn't drag the Hildabeast over the line for the all encompassing win.
I used to think the DUmbasses were a stupid and small anomaly but I've come to believe that their stupid and simplistic views are shared by 30%+/- of the country. That scares the shit out of me for our country and my children.

I honestly don't think any even know what a liberal is,because Fascism is a LEFT-WING political movement. It is all about ownership and rule from the top,with no such things as rights for the citizens. Only the upper levels of the ruling class have rights,and even then they only have them because they command the military and the police.
BTW,do NOT call the left "liberals". There is no person on Earth LESS liberal than a leftist.
