Things aren't so great
« on: January 24, 2012, 09:41:23 PM »
Went to the hospital to have the angiogram finally. The Doc said that there was too much blockage to do an angioplasty or stents. My only option is to have a multiple coronary bypass surgery. HOWEVER, my kidneys aren't working very well, apparently. SO.... I need to go see the kidney Doc before I can have the bypass surgery. Anyways, as I can, I'll keep y'all posted.

Holy shit.  Are you going to be okay?  How much does Tricare cover?  :(

I don't care how fancy and "new" medicine is, sometimes it still feels like they're taking hatchets and rusty knives to you.

Tricare covers quite a bit after the $3000 catastrophic cap, like 100%. (It should be $1500 for me, but that's a different story.) That's not really my biggest concern.

My RN-ICU wife says this isn't an abnormal event. It's because the dyes they use to view things can affect the kidneys. So a renal exam is often necessary.

Just one friend here, locally. (close enough as to whom they would actually  come over & take care of me.) Kind of sucks. My daughter's working & going to school, so I can't interrupt that.

Prayers from us as well.......bear in mind that bypass surgery might be frightening up front, but it's gotten to the point where it's a relatively routine procedure, with an astounding success rate.  We've had four friends that have had this surgery, and to a man, they all state that afterward they feel better than they have in decades.

It typically takes a couple of months of rehab and physical therapy post-op, but afterward, you'll be a new man....
