I did not know that John McCain's son was in Iraq

Someone on another board posted a link from a New York Times article that said he did not want the article published. They said he does not want to discuss his son's service and thinks that the media should respect his son's privacy. Anyway, even though I'm 100% against this war, I do have a tad more respect for McCain than the rest of those damn chicken hawks that started this war. YES he is still wrong about the war but at least he did not dodge the war and his son did not dodge a war that his dad approves of. Having said that Obama is still going to kick McCain's butt in the general election. LOL

link

look who just caught up. :whatever:  actually, both sons could be in iraq by next year.  this thread just popped up;  I am curious as to how they handle this.

You know, if we conservatives would just nominate John McCain, liberals would vote for him  :whatever:

Any minute now we should see a post claiming that it's all B.S. and he really isn't there or is in some 'cushy' position.
25 years ago we had Ronald Reagan, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope.  Now we have Obama, no hope and no cash.

4. Yep. He's a Marine. Enlisted, too. He's something like twenty years old, and

he's been in since he was eighteen. I'd be sick with worry.

ok, someone posted a link, so I assume they all believe it now . . . I keep waiting for someone to wish a calamity upon mccain's son.  this thread has a very high potential for combustion.

Good news is for the next 8 years we wont have to hear how McCain should send his kids to war.  :lmao:

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

9. His son wasn't in when he voted to start the war.

The only person that was true for was the Democrat Tim Johnson.

another post without a point.  his sons joined the military knowing that there was a war in iraq, and knowing that they would in all likelihood be deployed into iraq.  what's the difference?  what actually happened is probably even more admirable.

Chances are good he knew his boys were planning on a military career at the time so once again the primitives fail.

14. Yep - McCain is wrong about a lot o things, but he does have integrity

I don't want him as President but I still think he's a decent old guy. I want Obama to win over him on the issues, not because of electoral BS. I don't like ti when people on DU are calling him a doddering old fool either - his age is an issue for me, but I don't believe he's senile or suchlike. And we shouldn't give the Republicans ammunition by resorting to snide insults that are unecessary.

my goodness.  can't you just hear the gears grinding and stripping from here? :-)  they are totally struggling with this one.

15. Flag admirals earn their 'gubmint checks'.

There's nothing wrong with a family tradition of military service, even if that's maybe a better qualifier for Sec. of Defense than the oval office.

where did all the nearly normal people come from today? :-)

it appears that they have evaluated the facts, considered the various implications of the issue relative to the big picture, carefully considered their options, and have decided to ignore the hell out of the whole thing. :-)

If the kid is twenty now, and the war has been going on five years, then he'd have to enlist at fifteen?

One of his older son's from a previous marriage was a pilot, and his oldest son with Cindy is in the Naval Academy and will graduate soon. The son in the academy would have had to start the process quite a time ago. So, to say that he had no idea that any of his children would go to war when voting is not true.

The fact that McCain does not see fit to politicize his son's service seems to be as perplexing to the Dummis as Bush actually doing what he says he's going to do, in spite of negative poll numbers.
Can you name anyone on the Dem side who might do the same?
