A disgusting conversation I had at work today

Sorry to upset anyone, especially at dinner time, but I have to get this off my chest.

First, a little backstory. In Parkersburg, Ia, a tiny town in NE Iowa of 1900, a much loved football coach was murdered earlier this year and it came on the heels of a devastating tornado last year which flattened the town. Football was one way of rebuilding and getting back to normal. Coach Ed Thomas was, as mentioned, much loved in the town and was instrumental in getting things going again in Parkersburg.

Anyway, tonight is the first game they are playing since the murder of Coach Thomas.

A few of us at work were talking about how successful the program has been, and I mentioned that it's amazing that a town of 1900 could put four guys in the NFL, and not only NFLers, but good players as well.

So one of the guys involved in the conversation mentioned, "I bet none of them are black either." I replied, "No, there's not a lot of African-Americans up there. But good athletes come in all races." He said, "The n### are born into it. They are bred to be athletic." I said, "Most athletes have some natural talent, but have to work to maintain and nurture it. I imagine that the Parkersburg four worked hard to get to the NFL as well."

Then I started getting more wound up and said, "Not all African-Americans are great athletes. And I know damn well that all white guys aren't intellectual either." I said that last statement as I looked him in the eye. Then I decided to walk away and let him think about what I said. I imagine he thinks I'm the dumbass, and I certainly am not a mensa member, but at least I know right from wrong, and that guy is just wrong.

I think it's a zulu; please notice the "So" in it.

Let them know NO it's NOT okay. If you don't say something, the unspoken message, unchallenged, is that you agree. It's sick.

You did the right thing!!

It doesn't mean wising them up or changing their minds. It means letting them know their bigotry is out of line and unacceptable.

btw there are some males that feel (and act) the same way regarding sexist bigotry.

13. A reference to certain practices sometimes used during slavery.

Selective breeding to increase desirable physical traits. No idea how widespread the practice was though.

Despite the tiny bit of truth in what he was saying it is still not something to be brought up in polite conversation, especially in the manner this guy apparently said it. The comments certainly seem indicative of a more pervasive underlying racism.

Here in Vermont, perhaps the most liberal state in the union, we have almost no black people. There is an african community in Burlington, I believe they are Somali refugees, since Burlington is a sanctuary city. There is also a bit of a Vietnamese community there too. There are also some people of color attending UVM. But aside from that, this state is as white as a freshly bleached sheet. If you drive through the Northeast Kingdom, you will find a pond with a little black sambo statue fishing on the shore in front of nearly every house outside of the towns. I did see a black man here on my island once. I suspect he was a Canadian on vacation. You should have seen the looks he was getting from the locals.

Yep! I live in N. Idaho. I'm sure everyone here knows the reputation we have received due to the stinkin' Aryan Nation BS! Yet we still have a small community of the negro persuasion.

Well, you still need one of those home security systems, from that company with a home base that looks like NASA control headquarters. I've learned from their commercials that crooks who break into homes are always white guys. I'll bet the crime rate in Vermont is through the roof. Wonder if that has anything to do with how liberal Vermont is?

On the other hand, when all those rich East Coast socialists want to enjoy their money, and move out of the hellholes they created, why do they congregate in lily-white Vermont? You would think, given the high value they place on diversity, they would stay put, or move into D.C., or downtown Newark. What's up with that?

Same thing on the Law and Order franchise. There is not one single crime committed by a black or any other minority.  Rarely there will be some evil white bitch but otherwise all crime, particularly murder and rape, are committed by white men that are usually christian.
