GOOD GOD.

I posted this one for the pics.  the first one is just brazenly dangerous.  the second one is remarkable because of the rapturous look on the face of the lady in the background.  same with the third.

maybe we don't understand the difference between american idol and a presidential election.

They are the expressions of childish immaturity.
These people have no idea why they believe what they do and their endless, fictional stories of putting Conservatives in their place are rationalizing methods to convince themselves otherwise.

They really do think this is American Idol. I swear, half of this country is expecting Randy, Paula and Simon at the voting booth.

Indeed. I haven't seen vacuous adoration like that since that group in Jonestown, Guyana.

this all bodes well for us in november.  the thing about being the messiah is that you can't be human,
and he is, and you sooner or later have to produce a miracle, and he can't.

27. If we can succeed in making this man president

each of those kids should have a full size print of those shots stored for their adulthood. It's certainly impossible to plumb the true depth of the human ability to go wrong, but the chances of the little boy in the last shot growing up with a negative perspective on black people seems likely to have been lessened by this contact. Likewise, the black kids (three young men and a little girl) posted further down the thread are probably going to remember having met the senator. If he becomes president they'll carry it with them for a long time.

Bravo.

what the ****ing ****? :thatsright:

45. I'm getting increasingly weirded out by some of Obama's supporters

Some people who should know better - hard-bitten, not-so-young cynics, even - are gushing about Barack, raving about his "game-changing" politics, about his "power to inspire," about how they wept while viewing the now-famous Dipdive video, and on and on.

Excuse me, but this sounds more like a cult than a political campaign. The language used here is the language of evangelical Christianity - the Obama volunteers speak of "coming to Obama" in the same way born-again Christians talk about "coming to Jesus."

But he's not Jesus! He's not going to magically enable us to transcend the bitter partisanship that is tearing this country apart. And even if he is elected, in no way will that show that somehow we have "gotten beyond" race.

If obama gets the nomination and G-d help us all if he is elected, but I see this as another Bush scenario; where obama is going to be hand-picked by the whore medaia and held up as the Messiah in order to see that he is president.

Yes, and Im also sure that he awaits the same fate -- NO, Not That fate... When you consider the orginal Elvis of the 50's and 60's and then compare him to the Elvis of the 70's, It is clear he collapsed under the weight of his own cult like status and became a parody of himself. Eventually Obama will transform in HyperObama and become the same> Overdone, Over the top, and if he is unlucky enough- Overweight. Kind of like The Goreacle is today - he is overfilled with, erm..  "Goreness", and soon he won't be taken seriously by anyone but his most devout followers.

And yet dare to even THINK that the Barackstar! is an empty suit, and watch the fangs come out.

These are the people canceling YOUR votes.  And yet tests to vote are illegal.

Yet consider this--no matter how badly he is beaten by McCain in November, the good dutiful folks dead of Chicago will send him to Washington for another 30-40 years until his liver is more pickled than Fat Teddy's and his brain is more addled than "Sheets" Byrd.

Kennedy is a perfect example of another person who is now a parody of himself, yet worshipped like a god.

The only way I let Obama within a mile of my daughter is if she spits up on him--and it's caught by news cameras from services all over the world.

Hussien should invest in some land in Guyana.

And Tony Rezko could be the partner.

Good God these people look like they are in a cult.

It's because... they are! And most classically, it is they who are most oblivious to (and humorless about) the cult-like behavior.

Wonder how long they will last??

the whole thing is a little mixed up.  the thought that "babies love The BarackStar!" is silly in a politically meaningful context the first place, but then to turn right around and pile on someone that dared to note that a baby with liberal, um, DNA, that makes it all the way to actually being born could be considered somewhat fortunate is, um, well . . . it's confusing.
