MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA- Two police officers were assaulted after trying to break up a huge teenage brawl near a Burger King in Pennsylvania.

And it begs the question, were the recent officer assaults a result of the aftermath of an Abington school board member’s anti-police comments that from January? It’s a reasonable speculation to dive into.

Officers from the Abington Township Police were dispatched on February 6th at approximately 9:00 p.m. after a series of fights broke out at a Burger King parking lot on Easton Road, according to Police Chief Patrick Molloy.

Two police officers were injured after called to break up a fight at a Burger King.

Chief Malloy commented on the assaults:

“Our officers are tasked with going in, trying to deescalate a situation. And then the lack of respect for authority – the inability to just simply comply with the officers who are going in there, are very professional – and disperse is mind-boggling.”

However, this incident is mere weeks after Dr. Tamar Klaiman decided that a school board meeting would be an appropriate time to slander police officers.

Within the very same township that police officers were seriously injured tending to a teenage brawl last week, Dr. Tamar Klaiman portrayed police officers as some inherent risk to school-aged children who aren’t white back on January 21st.

During an Abington School Board meeting where Klaiman was in attendance, the topic of district-employed police officers came up.

When the discussion shifted toward whether or not police officers should be allowed to carry guns in school, Klaiman stated the following:

“I mean, this might not be the appropriate venue or time to talk about this but there’s a lot of evidence that anybody carrying a firearm in a district building puts kids at risk, particularly students of color.”

The only thing sensible about Klaiman’s statement was the mention of that not being “the appropriate venue or time to talk about this”. Quite frankly, that statement just isn’t appropriate at all, since it blatantly eluded to police posing a threat to children just because they’re black or brown.
