Title: Calif. woman slain on the phone with 911
Post by: tuolumnejim on March 20, 2008, 02:05:50 PM
What do you want to bet that the libtards in the media make a whole weird take that this means we need more gun control in this socialist state.  :censored:
If this woman was armed and knew how to defend herself, she would be alive and the perp would be facedown.

WEST COVINA, Calif. - A woman was asking a 911 dispatcher for help when her pleas were interrupted by gunshots, then silence. She was shot to death.

The woman told the dispatcher someone was trying to break into her home in upscale West Covina, Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Dan Rosenberg said. "Deputies heard gunshots followed by silence and an open phone line," he said.

Deputies arrived at the house, 20 miles east of Los Angeles, a few minutes after Wednesday's late morning call.

The woman, whose name was not released by police, had been shot several times. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

"At this point we believe it was a burglary gone awry," Rosenberg said.

Investigators are trying to determine if anything was taken, Deputy Luis Castro said.

While police were investigating the shooting, a man arrived at the home asking about his wife.

When he heard that the woman had been shot and killed, he collapsed and started to cry, saying "No! She just called me. You lie."

The man was placed in a patrol car and taken to a sheriff's station, police said.

Witnesses said they saw one or more men running from the house, Rosenberg said.

Investigators used bloodhounds to conduct yard-to-yard searches.

No arrests had been made by Thursday morning, deputies said.

As a precaution during the search, a high school and an elementary school were locked down for about two hours, police Lt. Dan Brooks said.

Well, this confirms what they say: When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

There was a thing in the new NRA magazine about a woman who was on the phone with 911 when her ex-boyfriend broke into her house to try and kill her.  She hid in the closet while calling 911 and when he broke down the door she shot his piece of crap ass. :cheersmate:

The one thing it DOESN'T sound like is a plain old 'burglary gone awry.'

True dat.

My first thought, too.

No, home invasion robberies have gotten VERY violent over the past several years, particularly where the targets are minorities who don't trust banks and carry large amounts of valuables/cash in the home.

911 is nothing more than government-sponsored Dial-A-Prayer.

Case in point...I nearly got run off the road by a drunk driver tonight.  I called 911 and reported it.  I saw them a few minutes later at a stoplight, when one of the little miscreants got out of the truck and came across the street at me with a knife (no, I did NOT get out).

I called 911 again.  They wanted ME to come down to the station (despite the fact they parked not two blocks away) to "make a report".  I told them that I had already given them descriptions of the driver, occupants, and vehicle down to the license plate, and if they wanted to investigate they could do so.

Too bad they're too busy closing up Dunkin Donuts to be bothered with such things.

I am thinking of getting a taser. Easier to get then a gun here.
