Title: Sen. Baldwin: 1st Amendment Doesn’t Apply to Individuals
Post by: mrclose on July 06, 2015, 07:30:20 PM
With idiots like this running things, is it any wonder why the country is going into the crapper?
(Actually, these people aren't all idiots .. just evil would be my guess!)

Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) says the 1st Amendment’s religious liberty protections don’t apply to individuals. On MSNBC last week, Wisconsin’s junior Senator claimed that the Constitution’s protection of the free exercise of religion extends only to religious institutions, and that individual’s do not have a right to the free exercise of their own religion.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I do not see anything confining to institutions. It applies to individual. Leftists are clueless about the Constitution.

She's part of that 19% that's clueless about what's in the 1st Amendment.

So, in Tammy's fantasy world:

* Freedom of the press is both an individual and a corporate right;

* Freedom of speech is an individual, but not a corporate right (Citizens United, GRRRRRR!)

* Freedom of religion is a corporate right, not an individual right.

Sounds more like Tammy and her ilk want to decide who gets a "right" case-by-case, specifically, based on who is speaking and what they are speaking. That isn't a right, that's arbitrary aristocratic tyranny.

I'm not so sure she is ignorant to the 1st amendment applying to individuals.
What is true is, she doesn't want it to apply to individuals.
So all of her efforts go to making that true.
A little persuasion, a little historic revision, a little of the old lib attitude that rules don't apply to them, and they can do whatever they want, and voila, the 1st amendment is inoperative as the libs love to say.
