Hello!
« on: October 18, 2012, 01:45:33 PM »
Hmm, well, here goes my introduction.
My name is Elizabeth, but I go by Liz.
I am a college student, studying Advertising and Graphic design.
I have a very bubbly personality, (as you can see by my username) but when it comes to politics I tend to fly off on my soap box with ease.
The one moment in my life that seriously influenced my political beliefs besides my faith was 9/11. I was about 10 years old when that happened, and as every American who was aware and alive back then I remember it vividly. Although I never lost anyone, and I am not a New Yorker, the events of that day have had a lasting impact on me and my beliefs.
I turned 18 two days after the 2008 Presidential election, so I had not the chance to vote against Barack Obama. You have no idea how gutt wrenching it was for me to watch the election returns that night. I was further driven to tears (I am serious) when on January 21st 2009, I watched George W. Bush leave D.C on t.v. I emptied the kleenex box.
So yes, I take these things quite seriously, and at the moment Romney has a 7 point lead in the likely voters poll by Gallup, and nothing could make me happier.
I cannot wait to meet all of you!
-Liz

Welcome.

9/11 has affected many people very deeply. My B-I-L was a far lefty but 9/11 turned him into a conservative. I was skeptical at first because he was in his fifty's at the time but he continues to this day telling me the "idiots" around him voting for the likes of Obama.

Welcome. 9/11 had a profound affect on a lot of people. And you aren't the only one who remembers that day as well as you do. I can recall everything I did that day by the time of day from the time I got out of bed until I got off my couch three days later.

I hope you enjoy it here. I am glad to see someone else with faith. God is all powerful, and the greatest of all things.

Hello, welcome.

Interesting choices for a college course. I can't draw to save my life unless it's stick figures. How long have you been going? I've been in my courses for a total of 2 months now, or almost.

You've joined the cool side of the political spectrum.

Thank you for the warm welcomes!
Yes I am always aware of the effect 9/11 has had on Americans as a whole. I do believe it caused quite a number of people to "wake up".
Sometimes it seems silly to me that I "woke up" when I was 10 years old. very few children understand or even care about politics or world events. As I child I was in an inner city public school surrounded by children who clearly spouted whatever they heard from their parents, and I was the only little girl who didn't like Al Gore in 2000. It truly is amazing now that I think about it how even children get into debates with eachother during election seasons, and as a kid I had to debate everyone, since my way of thinking was the minority. Then I moved to the country and it was a whole new world to say the very least. LOL!

I was set back a year or two  as far as my education goes with the state of this economy, so I worked to save up for some of it and then I took out a loan. I am almost done with my associates and then I plan on transferring to Appalachian State (very liberal school, but just try to find one that isn't) and finish up studying there.

Welcome!

I cried when Bush lost to Clinton in 92, I was so used to winning that it was a shock that we could lose.

haha! I can see why...
Though last time I was sitting in front of the tv crying "If it had to be a democrat, I would rather have Clinton!"
Things are bad when I have those thoughts. I thought 2012 would never come. I have been ready for this election season since 2008.

How times can change, I never thought I'd say I would rather have Clinton in the White House, but Obama has made that happen LOL.
