Hello from Buffalo
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:22:38 PM »
I am new to the group just looking for a great bunch of Conservatives to talk with. Seems to nearly taboo in my group of friends. I had a friend recommend something to me so I posted about it,  now I am being marked poorly by others. Even some questioned weather I am a woman or not. Classy. Anyways, I was just here to make some real discussion with intellectual people and when I asked for more than 2 negative opinions, the world crashed in on me. Obviously I don't fit in here either.

Bye.

The world hasn't crashed in on you.  Every new person is looked on with suspicion as we have "fans" at other boards that like to sign on here and cause trouble.  So stick around and see how it goes.

Yep. We've had more than our share of trolls over the summer -- probably caused by the drought.

Part of your problem -- which isn't a huge problem, btw, just something to keep in mind -- is the business about posting some sort of "what do you think about this?" thing before opening an Intro thread. First thing I think of when I see that is somebody -- you in this case -- is pimping something I don't want. And failing to introduce yourself right from the get-go isn't entirely courteous either -- whether here or anywhere else.

Trolls employ those techniques quite a lot as a guise to try and fit in, but it generally doesn't take long for the real deal to surface.

So, again, if you're legitimate, hang around. Get the lay of the land first, then chime in.

I have locked that thread because first, given some of your sign up information it is doubtful that you had no knowledge of the movie you were spamming and second, within 4 posts you were calling someone here a jerk.
We have dozens of sign ups a month that do so for the sole purpose of pushing a blog/book/website etc so it is very normal for long term members to recognize it and be suspicious.

If you wish to engage in discussion without being sly or deceitful then please do but otherwise you are right,if you are here to promote a thing you want others to see without being honest about it then it is not the place for you.

You got real discussion. Disagreement is not negative opinion.

I agree with other posters here. You do come across as a spammer.
This is a discussion board. Try something a little different and talk to us. Discussion on a discussion board shouldn't be all that foreign to people.

I'm not new to forums, as I game. Didn't think that was relevant information though. I was not pimping a product. I was looking for a discussion on a movie that seem like it would be a great debate movie if nothing else. I can see that you get a lot of spam. But, as you don't have one central "Hiya" post I didn't see the exact blue print of where to start. Of course I will stay around, and he's I will call people jerks when they are being such. As I am an entirely nice person and do not like to be spoken down to for no real reason. Key word being real.

My problem was that you made a thread asking if anyone had heard about a movie and if you should perhaps rent it...yet your contact information incorporates the movie title.
Hardly appears at that point to be an innocent question.

All we ask is for folks to be upfront and honest.
