But this is Illinois. SLOW does not adequately define the market.
You mean to say that owebuma's home state isn't the shining gem example of prosperous owebuma leadership ? Fie !
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

It's a shining example of a state going down the toilet further every day.

Do you mean to say the same type of leadership that has put Detroit into bankruptcy ?

Probably even worse. The State of Madiganistan will not allow any common sense to prevail, nor will they pass any legislation lead by Republicrats. This has been going on for more than 25 years.

The politics in Illinois might be messed up, but it was always a pretty decent place to live. I spent 40 years there! A lot of great small towns with a lot of history and old buildings.

Everything where I live now is new. Houses that are 20 years old are considered outdated and old. I love old farm houses, Victorian homes, and those that were built in the early 1900's when the industrial boom hit in the part of the state I used to live in.

Rob, the extremely high taxes have closed some of those old towns. Others are hanging by a shoestring.

The interstate highways have also caused the death of other towns and businesses.

Walmart and Super Walmarts have helped to make downtown squares obsolete.

And just to see how far down the slippery slope we've slid:

People of Walmart

At some point, it stops being funny and becomes disgusting. And alarming.

It's just the way things are. When Wal-Mart moves in, other business fail or move out. Once friendly stores run by friendly local people who owned those stores, and the town squares become deserted deserts. It's their corporate policy, not that of it's employees.

We have no idea why this rosebush has gotten so tall. It's not a climber, either. It's over 6' tall.

Everyone loves my wife's plants and flowers. She also has rosemary, basil, thyme, and some other things, and we have a huge growth of chives that was here before we moved here in 1986.

I agree!! Nothing is more attractive to a prospective buyer, that when the seller, maintains their lawn. If one is an avid gardener, they like to know what flowers, herbs and veggies are going to do well.

I have to get my tractor out real soon to mulch the McIntosh apples that have fallen on the ground. The damned hornets LIVE in those dropped apples, and it's no fun working around that when cleaning up for the fall.

Walmart and Super Walmarts have helped to make downtown squares obsolete.

I know a few downtowns that were first destroyed by shopping malls, before Wal Mart came to town. Many of those downtowns made a comeback. Not so much for everyday shopping but for other things. I lived in a small Illinois town of 6500 residents, we had a Wal Mart, three grocery stores and a meat market. We were surrounded by other small towns that did not have the same and we would draw shoppers from those towns. The town was the center of a fairly large rural school district. The downtown had a Victorian charm which kept it alive.

I have not seen an old gas lantern for years. I remember when they decided natural gas was too expensive to allow their use.
