DainBramaged's health insurance rates are DOUBLING!!!

 For me from $82 a week to $126 a week. Oh and my drug co-pay on 4 of my drugs is up by 60% too so it's now going to cost $320 a month for my drugs.


The good thing is we should be glad we still have health insurance.

At the end of every week after all expenses and gas money for the week, I'll have $40 for food.

What the hell did you expect?  Cutting out competition raises prices.  Increasing regulation raises prices.  Forcing companies to insure people raises prices.  Are you DUmmies really surprised?

Have you contacted the drug companies personally? many of them will provide the meds free if you can show you can't afford them.

Cream of Wheat for breakfast, baloney or PB&J for lunch, beans with a ham bone in the crock pot and rice. Bananas, fruit cups and vegetable/fruit juice to get the rest of what my body needs. And I still have a few bucks for a cheap steak with eggs a couple of times a week. $40 a week for food is doable.

OOOOOOOOOR you could trim the fat from your budget and start clipping coupons DUmmie.

( I have to say I really miss the buzz of energy drinks tho. Have to make do with instant coffee. )

Aren't nearly all drugs available in the less-expensive generic versions, other than the brand-new ones that were developed just last week or last month?

No. New drugs are protected by patents for either 17 or 20 years. Otherwise, the incentive to develop drugs, and then go through the long, tortuous and expensive U.S. testing requirements just wouldn't be there. FDA approval takes years and sometimes millions of dollars.

New drugs have a patent of I think 20 years, oooops, GOBUCKS just said that, there's a lot that goes into research and development so that's why generic comes out after all those years.
